Mario and Sonic. Classic franchises, but they jumped the shark a long time ago. (And before you start flaming, I've used that term long before Yahtzee did.)

I'm gonna go down a bit of a controversial route by saying Beyond Good & Evil.

I rented it from Gamefly about a year and a half ago, played it for an hour or two, then set it down and simply never bothered to pick it up again. Maybe the introduction is just slow, maybe it would have gotten better had I given it a proper chance, but I simply couldn't get into it.

It was all just so... so average, what I played.

All the samey grey-brown FPS games that companies have been vomiting up. Halo, Gears of War, Modern Warfare, COD:Black Ops, I don't like an of those. I've never been fond of shooters but I cannot stand realistic war shooters. Also when Halo first came out my friend bought it and loved it so I decided to try it. Not that far into the game I thought to myself "Wow this sucks, who would play this shit?" It became popular and ruined the gaming industry, and I doubt there will be a game I hate more than that abomination.

Did...I post in this thread before? Can't seem to find me if I did... Nevertheless, an answer.

With respect, I say Halo...with a slight change.

I can't understand why everybody loves it that much. Looks like a decent enough game, but I know that there are a huge ton of really REALLY hardcore fans. It's the LEVEL of fanaticism that I don't get, putting it equal to some kind of online gaming heroin. Even in the love of competition or killing shit, where's it all coming from? You kill lots of things in lots of games with varying stories and this one is somehow almost comparable to WoW. (For the record, I DO understand WoW's attraction from people. Just not Halo's.)

Dragon Age Origins.
I like RPGs but this game was just boring. The story was unoriginal, the character interactions seemed pointless due to the character's uninteresting backgrounds, the sex didn't belong, and the combat was good but not great.

So where to begin.

Dragon Age. Npc interaction does not make a game, maybe for asocial ppl who don't have friends to talk to it is but as a game no NO No.

Half-Life 2 overrated tripe of boring game campaign with exploading barrels being the 2nd most used thing in the game, other is black soldier with ugly white mask and annoying radio noise. ppl probably think OH grAV GUN lets forget all the shitty other guns, physic puzzles, bland boatrides and enemies because GRAV GUNZ ZOMG OMGOGMGMOGMGMO(Shoots brain with gravgun and makes a blackhole).

Oblivion = Horribly copy paste everything of interrest of a game with a bad character system that makes it HARDER for you to play if you progress.

Just to defend fallout 3 a little bit, it was sweet to see the fallout world in 3d. Yet the drawbacks of a bad story and copy paste ALOT through the game was obnoxious, Also having a big game world but forcing players into small corridors is some stupid game design, especially if your suppost to be using sniper rifles, stealth, explosives(like rocketlauncher 2 meters long corridor Hurr durr) etc.

So you believe everything Yahtzee told you about JRPGs. Western RPGs aren't much better in this aspect, since they revolve around middle aged space marines saving the galaxy.

But I agree, I never thought Metroid was that fun, even with the FPS games. It was a resounding "meh" every time I tried to play Prime and the other games.

As has been mentioned, the river of spiced-with-physics mediocricy that was Half Life 2. And people actually congratulate that game for STORYTELLING? I'm inclined to drop the pretense, and ask 'what story'.

im sorry but, what!? this has nothing to do with yahtzee in anyway, this is my own opinion. why cant anyone have their own opinion without automatically be compared to someone else? just because he doesnt like them and someone else HAPPENS to have the same/near same opinion about them? and btw,did you even notice i said MOST JRPG's do this formula? not all,but MOST..."oh hey,i noticed you have an opinion that is the same as *insert random persons name here* you must believe everything that guy says, dhuuurp!". you see it works both ways, you just made yourself look like a tool, hope your proud of yourself. (also if you think anyone really takes anything what yahtzee says to heart, then you really must be brain-dead)

Even then, more popular JRPGs don't have characters with spiky hair, at least not recently. Even Cloud, the posterboy for JRPG stereotypes, got a decent haircut.

And there are people who treat Yahtzee seriously, believe it or not.

My top two are Halo and Dragon Age

Halo totally puzzles me as it is a very basic, and now very archaic, shooter. Every new entry in the series does hardly anything new or implements things from other games. This would not be a bad thing if done properly as thats how games advance, but more often than not it's done poorly. The Campaigns are dull, the multiplayer is total shit, it's just a jump fest, and the graphics, for all the praise they get, aren't even as good as games released several years ago.

Dragon Age. Now, I really wanted to like this being a huge fan of Baldur's Gate, but I just thought it sucked. The story was boring, the characters were dull, the land uninspired and the general gameplay was just weak.

Uncharted 2.

I've played it and seriously don't understand all the dick sucking it gets. Sure it pulls of cinematic well but the shooting is clunky and repetitive, platforming frustrating due to not being able to see where the fuck you're supposed to jump. Script is bad, and Drake seriously does not shut the fuck up at all. Nolan North's annoying voice acting doesn't help either.

Probably the most mediocre game I've ever played.

Oblivion. I hear a lot of praise for the game from some people but in my opinion, it's a pretty sub-par RPG when compared to others out there.

Bioshock, I love the story but aside from that it just didn't seem to be worth the amount of praise it gets.

WoW, I don't get how people can grind on that game for hours and hours upon end. Especially when there doesn't seem to be any real reward once you reach that level cap. Plus I just don't like the idea of paying more money per MONTH for a game I've already paid $60 for.
