I don't really hate games that other people love, but there are games that people love that I find to be "meh." It could that I'm not interested in them, or I just don't really find them fun. These games include The World Ends With You, the Gears of War series, the Halo games, and Oddworld.

I'm like you, i've never found what was so epic about halo, the multiplayer is the only thing good but its shot down by how many little kids talking shit to you after every kill they get. (well thats what really made me hate it, that and its kinda same old same old after a while).
The story was interesting till the 3rd game when it seems like the writers got lazy and decided to kill off some of the "important" characters.

GTA4: It was too serious, I hated the car controls sucked, you couldn't restart a mission unless you went all the way back to where you started the dang thing and went through the lengthy cut scene before hand. Plus you couldn't have any of the good weapons or go anyplace you wanted too until the right time. Considering I was playing it for pure mindless fun and didn't give a crap about Nico's past.

Counter Strike: Source. I hate that game with a passion, the hit boxes are a bloody joke but everybody seems to love it.

The point is i shouldn't have to have thirty minutes devoted to creating a story the game I'm about to play, when other games manage in 1/10 of the time. If I skip to the game play then I'm left wondering why I'm playing...
All the apparent faults of MGS4 aside (I haven't played it so I can't comment), I disagree with your point. I'd much rather a game talk time to develop the story, assuming it's well written.

World of Warcraft (and any MMO, for that matter). I managed to level my character to 6 and stopped because I grew extremely bored. I still find it hard to understand why so many people are addicted to a game that requires you to perform repetitive tasks for weeks before you can actually do something.

Day of Defeat retail - YES I goddamn hate that game. They turned my beloved Beta 1.3 into a turd flinging crapfest. And I deeply hate anyone who enjoys the game.

Counter-Strike - Anyone who calls the game competitive is delusional.

Age of Empires - More like "It takes ages to get to the cool units Empires". Except there were no cool units.

The entire Halo series - Gaaaaaaah!

Gears of Bore - Played through half the first level, and by that time that hot stove element was looking mighty comfortable.

Gears of War, my friends call me a heretic for not liking it, but I found it to be incredibly mediocre and overrated, I honestly don't understand why it's so critically acclaimed.

First off, you could skip every cut scene in the game
Secondly, whenever you failed a mission, you would get a little text message that, if you pressed accept, would teleport you back to the start of the mission
So while you may have other complaints about the game, these two are untrue

Gears of War, it's the only game I regret buying for my 360. It's just boring as hell if you ask me.

I agree with a lot of posts on here, except for Oblivion which I find I still enjoy and can't stop playing even with its flaws. Fallout 3 has pulled me away from it for now though.

I'd like to add the "games with "Cry" in the name" series for playing like crap on my computer when so many other games that come out the same years they do play just fine. Hey Crytek, not everyone has a $3000 + super computer like you guys do so back off with the system requirements!

I actually enjoyed Final Fantasy 7 the first time, so I can't count that one.

FF8 was gods-awful and marks the beginning of the end with me and JRPGs---the genre was dead to me by 2000 and Square's 1998 lineup of games (with the lone exception of Final Fantasy Tactics) was the bulk of the reason.

Any game my wife has ever recommended to me, I've despised, to the point where she makes an excellent lodestone for my gaming compass---whatever she likes I steer clear of, whatever she thinks isn't worth playing I'm pretty much bound to love. I still think she owes me my money that I wasted on Neverwinter Nights.

Plus, I just can't get into console-style games other than sports---God of War, Gears of War, Halo, Metal Gear Solid---all games that I can appreciate on some level as great games, but none of which I personally have any desire to play.

Also Guitar Hero and its variants. I hated rhythm games when Dance Dance Revolution came out and I hate them now.
