I have an Xbox One and a 360. Games for gold keeps advertising that there's a good game free for gold subscribers for the 360 and that it is BC for XB1.

Question: is there a way I can download the BC 360 game for free on my live account on the XB1? So far, the answer seems to be "no" in which chase, why mention the BC factor in the first place!??!?!

Your advice is appreciated.

I don't know what "BC" is, but if you want to download a 360 Gold game for Xbox One, but without using a 360, its through Xbox.com by going to Xbox Live menu, and Games with Gold. Have to sign into your Xbox account though, obviously.

You can definitely download them onto your XB1, I've done it for the past few months. That is the whole reason why they advertise the Free Games with Gold being Backwards Compatible. Even the reverse is true, if you only have a 360, you can "buy" the free XB1 titles and they will become available to download once you finally invest in a XB1.

MS was going to issue an update that allowed you to actually search and buy 360 BC games on the XB1 marketplace. I'm just not sure if the update has launched yet. If it has, you can just "buy" the free 360 games through the marketplace. If not, you can just do what Saelune posted above about using Xbox.com. Once you "buy" the game, it will be listed under "Ready to Install" in the apps & settings menu.

Oh, Backwards Compatible. Yeah, all Gold games since a month or two ago are backwards compatible now, so all the 360 games work on XB1, Also yes you can now search XB1's marketplace for 360 stuff, from games to DLC, long as its been made backwards compatible.

Dang. I missed out on Gears 2 last month. Oh well. I'll give this a try, thanks!

EDIT: I tried this with Gears last month. I wonder if I was using the correct account as it still asked for money.

I am now downloading Grid 2, no charge! Thanks!

All Gold or just select from their BC list? If all, that is awesome. PS4 doesn't have that!

All gold from this point on. Past gold titles might not be, atleast not yet, but they said from now on yes, so when the next games this month come out, and the ones next month, and so on, all will be available on XB1. And yeah, as someone who prefers PS4, this is one thing (and BC in general) that they have over PS4. Though there have been many PS Plus PS3 games that are actually available for all three Sony systems, but PS Plus has been lacking lately.

If you want to redeem the 360 GwG from your X1, I think you can use the Xbox 360 Store section on X1 Store. However, I think you are required to have a credit card associated with your gold account. Otherwise, you will need to redeem the games from the store on your 360.
Redeeming the GwG from xbox.com also needs a credit card associated with your account.

Agreed. This month I get Ghost of Sparta on my Vita. Pretty cool. Xb1: I get to use my .5 TB interior drive and added a 3 TB for $100. PS4: 2 TB interior that replaced my interior .5. XB1 has ability to work with 5 Ghz wireless. Not so the PS4. XB1: no rechargeable battery in the controller but I bought one with better longevity than PS4.

That written, get a Wii U :)

I got all the systems. PS4 for games I want to play, Xbox One for games my friends want to play, and a Wii U for Nintendo games cause Star Fox and Zelda.

Lol! But do you have a gaming class PC!?!?! It's all good. I am hoping Uncharted 4 is all that.

I have a gaming laptop. Being able to move it was important so I went laptop instead of Desktop, but Ive yet to have any real issues, since I don't generally buy new games on PC.

Yes, you can add the free game to your account by using the Xbox app, you can also add xbox one games to your account from the 360 that way.

I've tried streaming from my Xbox 1 in one room over a decent laptop in another. I can hook it up the TV with HDMI or just play on the laptop.

There is a device coming out: you put state of the art graphics cards into it and have it attached to a laptop for extreme gaming.
