My wife is stuck with a Macbook till I can buy her a new notebook this holiday season.

So my question is: Is there any games (indie included) that any of you would recommend that I could get for her until then? No WoW, we've been there, we've done that. We were lucky to escape.

System Specs:
I am not certain, but its one of those mac on board graphic cards probably a 256.
4Gb of RAM
Intel Core Duo 2.4ghz
Shes also running Leopard

Thanks!

Valve games on steam, obviously. TF2, Portal, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead, etc.

If you're willing to put in the effort, you might want to try your luck with some custom made wrappers for games you already have but that could get ugly.

Psychonauts is on the mac on steam for $10 so pretty good deal.

^This - Hurray for Valve!

Also there's Diablo, Starcraft, Minecraft, Assassin's Creed : Brotherhood...
On the App Store there's Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic, Bioshock, CoD (I forget which one).
That's for the "big" titles.

Steam usually has great deals on indie games for Mac too, you just need to look around a bit.

The Sims series, I know of no female that can resist it.
But do be warned if you mention there is DLC your wallet will loose quite some weight.

I'm a male and I can't resist the temptation every now and again.

There are actually quite a few games available on the mac. You can usually get a good idea if you check out the apple site, though I recommend actually going to a video game store to purchase them since, despite Apple's free shipping, they charge an arm and a leg.

I currently have Warcraft III and Dragon Age II installed on my mac, but be warned that working the latter is a bit of a nightmare in regards to camera movement and such. (Or maybe that's just my console self grousing bitterly...)

Valve games on Steam. Minecraft, World of Goo, some games from the App Store... She seems to have almost the same specs as my macbook.

Get Steam, get any other Blizzard games you want, and get Minecraft. Also, Minecraft.

Then just search the internet for freeware. The Mac actually has some pretty awesome free games out there, most notably Battle for Wesnoth.

And even big titles, like Bioshock and quite a few others, are on Mac. You'd be surprised. And while the computer isn't a gaming beast, it's certainly capable enough to handle a good deal of stuff.

God I wasted so much time in my high school graphic design class playing that, lol. SO much time.

Anyway, as other have said Steam is a pretty good source for games on Mac. Otherwise, just Google search "games for mac" and you should find a few web sites devoted to it.

Are you a fan of multiplayer shooters?

If so I can recommend Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, its a free to play shooter which is quite heavily based on teamwork. (Mac version can be found Here [http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2010/1/19/1263942659123/SarcMark-002.jpg])

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is also alright, but I preferred the original to be honest.

Also; keep an eye on the Steam THQ sale, its running all week and there are some pretty great deals to be had.

Valve and Blizzard have everything you could ever want.
This.
TF2, Portal and all Blizzard games, are available for macs.
Or you could just buy/download Windows and boot camp it up so you pretty much have a windows computer.

Also, the old Marathon series is free. Many emulators and ROMs also work well on the Mac.

Well, what version of the operating system is it? That can change everything. I can't run Civilization 5 because my Mac book is 5.8.6, but I meet all the other system requirements.

As for games, I can run (with lower graphics) thus far Civilization IV, Starcraft 2, Team Fortress 2, and Poker Night at the Invetory.

Its "Snow Leopard" 10.7 or something close to that.

The greatest limitation with this computer seems to be the onboard graphics card that appears to NOT be Nvidia or ATI

I've seen videos of Minecraft it looks pretty cool, though is it true the little "broccoli people" destroy all your stuff at night?

Sorry, I meant "Snow Leopard 10.5.8, sorry for my mistake.

That will run Civilization V, although I am not sure about the graphics card.

I would stick with older games or 2D games like Plants vs. Zombies if you really fear your not going to be able to run it.

It's a sad life, being a mac gamer, knowing my roommate has a laptop that can run Starcraft 2 at the highest settings for half the price I paid for my mac :(

A mac, eh. I don't know, never used one. Can't you play Minecraft on it though? That should keep you happy for a while.

Probably already suggested, but oh well.
