I was planning on buying a 360 to complement my PS3 and PC when I finish at uni until just the other day. I was under the impression that it had a catalogue of exclusives that interested me. Then I talked to a friend about it and realised that there wasn't any (or at least very very few).
After I tried (and disliked) GeoW I just figured that there were other games out there. But as of right now the only 2 games that interest me are Dead Rising and Speed Ball 2 (I think I have that on my Amiga). I was honestly shocked.

How had that impression come to be in my head? My guess is that I have listened a bit too much to the people who keep telling me that the 360 has more exclusive games than the PS3. It very well may have, but none that interests me. And I'm not really interested in buying a console more to play multi platform titles.

At this point I think the PS3 has a bunch of interesting games coming out in the next year or so. Is the same the case for the 360? For now I have put my purchase of the 360 on hold due to lack of games for it, but is that going to change? Are there interesting titles coming out for it? Or any that I have overlooked? I'm not up to speed on the games and it seems like a daunting task to figure out. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can point me to titles that would make a purchase worth it. Or just a place to start my own investigations.

I should add that games that are available for PC will be bought for that. And Halo, GeoW and Fable holds no interest for me. This is not a stab at the 360 or an attempt to start any flame wars. I have no preference for the PS3. The only reason I have that is that I bought it first because of some games I wanted and I haven't had the money for the 360 yet. And I don't need anyone trolling about the superiority of any system. I'm just looking for 360 games.

It is your duty to get REZ HD! It is downloadable on LIVE marketplace and is worth the price of the console. Other Highly recomended games - Project gotham 4, beautifull katamari (dunno if thats exclusive), burnout paradise and, another downloadable, the furiously addictive geometry wars and biology battle. Seriously though the 360 is worth it just for the arcade and community games.

Edit: my main system is a p.c, I had Call of duty 4 on it... its better on 360 (or at least with a 360 controller). Its the first FPS i've EVER played that this is true for but COD 4-5 are just..better with the pad - not to mention local multiplayer

Wow, thats like the total opposite of myself. Got a 360 for its stuff, found little content on the PS3, and less I wanted.

Anyway, I could pitch games at you till I'm blue in the.. er... fingers, but you didnt really say what kind of games you like, so it would be rather futile in the end.

I'm playing splinter cell double agent now, and it's a lot of fun.
Picked it up for 12 bucks at gamestop.

Games I can reccomend to you for the 360 are: Dead Space, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (I've just begun playing it and I actually like it), Condemned, Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead, TimeShift, Resident Evil 5, Silent Hill Homecoming and Halo Wars.

I hope that helps you out.

It seems that there are indeed some interesting stuff on the Marketplace thingy. I should probably look into that some more.
And CoD4 I already have for the PC and found it to be somewhat meh. It didn't really do it for me which I find annoying as everybody else and their dog seems to have endless fun with it. :)

True. I guess I should have said something about that. But actually I'm interested in most types of games as long as they are good. I'm known to play everything from MGS over S.T.A.L.K.E.R. over TF2 over Oblivion to Uplink. Throw in some RTS as well. And I'll play a good racing game as well on occasion.

I got SC:DA for the PS3 and was disappointed by it. Though I suspect that it also has to do with it being a rather bad port. And the gameplay with the new HUD was silly compared to Chaos Theory which I think is the best of the Splinter Cell games so far.

I guess I should look into Dead Space. Though I seem to remember it being on the PC as well. I guess that would depend on the controls. Condemned, ME and L4D I already got on the PC. RE5 I've considered, but as I already have the PS3 it seems that I could just get it there.
I imagine that Halo Wars would be better if I had played the rest of the games as well?

Sorry for being hard to pitch games to. :)

Mass Effect, it's the only reason I haven't sold my 360, I wish to play it's sequel which is unlikely to be released on the PS3.
You've kind of already mentioned all the other exclusives that came to mind. What about Project Gotham or Forza, both great racing games, if you like the genre?

Dead Space is out on the PS3.
Actually, thinking about it, if you've got a good PC, there's really no reason for you to get a 360 as well, your platforms are what I wish I had, I'd glady take a gaming PC in exchange for my 360.

I guess ME2 would be an excellent reason to get the system. And now you mention it I have heard a lot of praise for Forza. At this point I'll race anything if it's less boring than Gran Turismo, the king of boring racers.

Also, you may want to consider Fallout 3. Some people (myself among them) love it more than life itself, but some people hate it, so you might want to rent it first.

If you like JRPGs but don't like turn-based combat, try Tales of Vesperia. It has a pretty damn good plot and an entertaining battle system.

I agree that you should get Mass Effect. It's a blend between an RPG and a third person shooter.

Hmm, I guess you may have a point. I got a reasonably good gaming PC, though I'll probably need to upgrade in a year or two.
Though ME2 really made me think. It was a bit annoying to play the first one on the PC so that's a point to think about.

I got Fallout 3 on the PS3. And I'm part of the group that thinks that it was a really good game but a sub par Fallout game. It can be a problem having played the old ones when they came out.

And as for turn based combat, as seen by my old Fallout love, I don't mind it at all. :)
But I'll look into Tales of Vesperia. If the plot is good, then I'm all for it.

Edit: Crap. Double post. Sorry.

Oh, with Forza, while it is very good, it can get incredibly boring after a while, but you could pick it up for quite a low price now, so probably still worth a play.

Crackdown is awesome, Fallout 3 is awesome, Mass Effect is cool, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is cool for even non-starwars people. The rest is more your taste of games.

Just a quick disclaimer: I haven't actually FINISHED Tales of Vesperia yet, since I'm currently sidetracked by Mass Effect. The plot does take a while to get warmed up (although the characters are good all the way through), but since I haven't beaten the game, there may some kind of crappy ending that I'm unaware of. However, I find that unlikely, based on the quality of what I've played through so far. It's not Tales of Symphonia, but it's still well written.

No, it's probably not enough with just one game. But it may be ME2 that gives it the last push. And it also seems like the 360 is the way to go for DLC these days, much to my dismay with Fallout 3 and GTA4. :)

But this thread have already given me a few things to think about. It seems I really was lacking knowledge about the games. Shame on me. :)

Oh, and aren't there a Dead Rising 2 on it's way as well?

My dear friend, someone must have led you astray. I think the 360 has a very strong lineup of games already out, and quite a few good ones on the horizon. If I was you I would hold out for Dead Rising 2. And Bioshock 2, is going to be a mainstream title you can expect to see pretty soon.

I would recommend Halo Wars, (if you aren't already sold on the Halo universe) Mass Effect, Orange Box, COD WaW, And most of all my one game that should sell you on the 360...Fallout 3. I picked it up used not too long ago, and it's the most fun I've ever had with a game. I also got the DLC too, but it stands up on it's own. Wait why am I not playing it now?

Edit: did I forget to mention RE 5.

Exclusives to consider:

Mass Effect
Dead Rising
Castle Crashers
Beautiful Katamari
Fable II
Forza Motorsport 3
Guilty Gear 2: Overture
Halo 3
Halo Wars (don't need to know Halo to enjoy, RTS)
Infinite Undiscovery
Ninety-Nine Nights II
Project Gotham Racing 4
Ridge Racer 6
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Tenchu
etc...

plus there's some nice DLC exclusives for games like Left 4 Dead and Fallout 3.

On a side topic note, I haven't been fond of any of the next gen Splinter Cells, but I absolutely love R6: Vegas 2.

Oh yea... I forgot mass effect that was a good game.
COver-based shooting, some cool force-like powers, amazing story, great conversations.
Get that game.
