I've found there's rarely any difference, the only time there is, it seems to be when a game is developed for the 360 then outsourced to be ported to the PS3, can't remember that happening recently though, Valve were the main culprits but now they don't even bother to release to the PS3. You've got a Steam account anyways, so that shouldn't matter much to you.teh_gunslinger said:Also, even if it's a bit of a derailment of the topic: Does anyone have any insights in the whole thing about multi platform titles. Are there much of a difference aside from the blatant lack of DLC on my PS3? I'm not into looking at slight variations in lightning and what not, but I seem to recall hearing that games often run a bit better on the 360. Is there any truth to that? And if so, does it matter?
I believe differences between games are usually slight. The early consensus seemed to be that the PS3 had slightly higher-resolution graphics for still images but the 360 had graphics that ran slightly smoother. Having played both consoles, I've never noticed a difference. I think that issue is for hardcore pixel-counters only.teh_gunslinger said:Does anyone have any insights in the whole thing about multi platform titles. Allright. I'm not really a pixel counter so that wont be an issue.Fraser.J.A said:I'd recommend a 360 to someone who doesn't already have a console, but not to someone who does. So many of the best games get released on 360, PS3 and PC now that, to my mind, there's nothing that compelling that's only on 360. Halo 3 is good and all, but there are plenty of other FPS games around on other platforms.
Don't get Speedball 2 on the 360. It's terrible.

Yeah, I've heard it was/is a good game. I tried the demo on the 360 a while ago and couldn't really follow it, so I checked a few reviews and remember mostly negative comments, so it wasn't just me. But I've just now gone back to refresh my memory and found positive reviews [http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/speedball2brutaldeluxe?q=speedball%202] too, so... maybe it's not as bad as I remember. Well, it's cheap enough, so you can't really go wrong. I retract my warning!teh_gunslinger said:And yes, I realise that Speed Ball 2 is not exactly the best game ever, but I have a lot of memories playing that game back in the '90s. But I can play it on the Amiga when I get it working I guess. It would be fun to play it again without the hassle though.
