games like "MAG" but for other platforms

i recently saw a video for MAG and said "@£"$ this really looks good, i wish i had a ps3" and started to try and find other games for other systems anyone know of any?

to be more specific i mean a game that has alot of people on a big map with objectives more than just kill the enemy lol

ive played the new one i enjoyed it but it felt like a generic fps online

I'd have to agree with this sentiment. Plus, the largest game modes just felt totally broken considering they literally boiled down to (in the end) with each side choking rivers with their dead (literally in some cases) with victory being awarded to the team more willing to throw corpses at the enemy.

The obvious candidates are the battlefield series. Section 8 is somewhat similar (but much smaller player counts). The tribes series has traditionally allowed for many, many simultaneous players but I suspect their following has dwindled.

Really, it boils down to which part of MAG you want to emulate. If it is simply massive numbers of players on the same map the modern offerings are slim at best. If you instead desire the gameplay structure and do not necessarily care about the sheer number of of people in the contest the field opens considerably.

Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising for the PC is a 2004 FPS set in Indonesia. It is quite close to the Battlefield series in feel, and has vehicle combat and ground combat too.

Its big draw is the fact that it supports 150+ players on a single server, and the maps are huge. In fact, on hacked servers, it can support 250 players easily. Plus, due to the way the games network is set up, games of less than 100 players can be easily played on a 56k modem.

It's very fun.

Oh man do I love that game. there's still a fairly big community for it too last time I checked.

I bought like 4 copies for all my friends during the steam Christmas sale so we could play it coop. good times.

Sorry i dont know any, but, this made me think. The day where they make a game similair to MW2 & MAG, it would be awesome.

i know it's been said before, but original battlefield games.
also, MAG would be better with SOME campaign.
