Oh snap! Just remembered: Startopia! One of the best builder games, only its a space station filled with aliens that you need to cater to in order to make a profit.

Look up some of Sierra's old works like Caesar 3, Pharaoh, Zeus and Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom. Each of these games is a city-building game within different eras of human history. While they mostly play the same, there are special distinctions between them. See if you can find them on GoG. I can vouch for each of them being decent city-builders, you just need to decide which one you like best.

On the other hand, if you want an agricultural game, then try out Harvest Moon and its many incarnations, including Rune Factory, which is the Fantasy version of Harvest Moon.

Can't believe nobody on here remembers the Sierra city-builder series. Makes me feel old.
I remember those, and I'm a young'n who's first console was an original Xbox. Used to play Pharaoh and Caesar 3 all the time, and played around with a demo of Lords of Magic. Never heard of Zeus or Emperor, better check those out.

As for the OT, there's nothing else I really have to add. Minecraft is actually a good one if you're looking for a resource management and construction focus but can live without the grand strategy unless you're playing on a multiplayer server. And if the city focus is more important, than the Sierra city-builders and the Sim games are your best bet.

Does anyone know of games like famerama or farmville of evony, but they don't take days of time and you can actually sit down and play them for a while and accomplish a lot in a day. I like games like them but i don't have all the time.
They are specifically designed that way to force you to either put up with shitty annoying game for free or to pay to make it slightly more playable.

Do yourself a favour, quit them and get a Steam account or something. All those facebook style games are cons.

Viva Pinata. You grow crops, plant flowers, sell produce, hire workers, do landscape stuff and attract, evolve and find variants of animals. You level up too.

Sounds like Farmville.

As has been said you need some Tropico in your life, that and to stop playing skinner box game desingned to rip you off, but mostly Tropico.

You may also like Black & White, Stronghold, Startopia, Ceaser, Dungeon Keeper, Evil Genius, The Sims Medieval, Europa 1400 The Guild and Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim.

You may also like Creatures and the Harvest Moon series, I can't really vouch for creatures but Harvest Moon is just about the only farm based game I'd reccomend to anybody.

Play the Sims on one computer and Sim City on the other and pretend they're the same game at once? Really thats the only thing I could think of; there aren't any games that I know of that are both a life simulator and a city builder
Well i don't care about the city aspect that much, i only really want a life simulator that does not take so long.
I think the sims 3 would be the right fit for you. In fact, I think you'll really enjoy it.

Hmm to add to the previously mentioned SimCity stuff, isn't there a version of that on facebook? There either IS or is GOING to be. Zynga also runs a farmville-like game called CityVille I think that I hear is quite SimCity like.

I personally don't get into their microtransaction playstyle but to each their own right? Play what makes you happy.

Also, get some Tropico in your life, stat.

What about The Settlers series? I haven't played the latest versions, though.

For a life sim, this may be quite irrelevant, but try Minecraft.....
