I just checked, I don't think there is (according to charmap).

Go buy a new keyboard. You can get a cheap one for under $20.
This. Most games will say on the box they require keyboard and mouse input. If your input is broken, that's not the game's fault.
A-hah! Found it.

Alt + 576 = @
Oh... and if OP doesn't understand, it means:

hold down Alt, then press 5, then press 7, then press 6, and release Alt.

And no. Because if the game seems to lock me out I forget about it because I find a work around no matter what.
I was gonna fall on the ground and kiss Abominations feet for giving me back my @, but Alt codes dont seem to be working...do they need a proper numpad to work?

evidently, it's 64.

@@@@@ (interspersed between Alt+64 @s and normal ones)

Or a new keyboard, borrow a keyboard, whatever. This seems like an easy fix.

No, the OP is not "complaining because EA did something". EA had nothing to do with the code of Warp Storm, the developer did. What the OP is saying is that it is very silly for a game not to work just because he can't create an @ symbol with his keyboard, and is asking if anyone else has found other, equally silly reasons for a game to lock you out of it.

I agree with him. For a game to lock you out because a single key on your keyboard doesn't work, while not allowing you any of the myriad means of putting an @ symbol into a text box, is flat-out pants-up-nose retarded.
Of course, it isn't really tied to the @ symbol, is it? Any given key could be broken, and that could potentially be an issue. I mean, imagine if the '.' key was broken.

People might even agree, except it's not unreasonable to expect people have a functioning keyboard to play a game and there are so many ways around it even though he's made it sound impossible. His inability to cope became the story because the difficulty is trivial.

It's not missing the point, it's looking at the issue for what it is.

By contrast:

I couldn't play Dark Souls on my computer for the longest time... It turns out that GFWL (OF COURSE) was reducing the sign-in screen to about 0.01 FPS. I left it alone for six hours once, and then it worked. Boots up fine ever since.
That is an unreasonable issue. And weird.
Just for the record, I dont think its unreasonable for them to expect me to have a functioning keyboard - I just think its crazy that so small a thing as one broken key would block access to the game.

Also for a different record, I did find a work-around - I went into the .ini file and found the option to change it from fullscreen mode to windowed, then started it up with the on-screen keyboard and voila, access :)

Couldn't you just use a digital keyboard, that most OSs have?
I tried, but there was no way to have it in front of the game window - the game would minimise every time I tried.

I got around it by editing the .ini file to start the game in windowed mode, then used the digital keyboard to go through it :)

Have you ever tried using GFWL? That thing is a nightmare. Bought Dark Souls, expecting to just install and go. But it's just not that easy when GFWL is needed..
1. GFWL wouldn't work with my setup, so I had to delete and reinstall it.
2. Even then, it was conflicting with something in the registry I had to stop (took a while to work this out).
3. My hotmail got deleted, so the email address associated with my xbox live account wasn't active, so I couldn't link it to the GFWL.
4. During creation of another email (it has to be hotmail/windows owned..) the xbox servers went down so I couldn't create a new gamertag..
5. When the servers went back up and I created the tag, the email never sent to the newly made hotmail account to be able to activate it so I can play Dark Souls..

It took 3 hours just to play Dark Souls, and even now it isnt associated with my normal XBL account. Kind of blows..

I bought Mass Effect 2 on Steam with all the DLC bought through the Bioware or EA website I am not 100% positive which one it was, I just remember having to buy points I think. Its been several years so forgive me if I am incorrect. I play the game beat it and all is well. Mass Effect 3 comes out and I have to buy it through Origin, I do so play the game and time goes by. I now want to play all 3 games again to see what I missed the first go around. When I run ME2 in Steam all the DLC is now missing, and the game wants me to rebuy it. Anyone know a way to resolve that? I emailed Bioware and EA but they referred me to Steam. So yeah, I would like to play it again.

So if my left-mouse isn't working, it's unreasonable that I cannot fire a weapon or click things in a game? lol. Or should I return a CD to the store when the power button on my car radio isn't working (and thus won't play the CD)

He has a defective piece of hardware and that is why the game does not work. Simple.

I've had several games locking me out because they forced a screen resolution outside my own, so I couldn't press certain required menu buttons. Not very difficult to fix, but silly and annoying nonetheless.

Not sure if this completely counts, but it's the closest story I have. Back when I played WoW I was walking through the Barrens and my game suddenly crashed. Booted me out of the whole game entirely. I kept trying to sign back in but after it loaded and I saw my character for a split second it would crash again. It would not do this whenever I opened up another character.

I finally got in contact with an administrator to see what the problem was, and after maybe ten minutes they messaged me back with something like this, in a nutshell: "It seems you may have stepped on the one spot in the game that doesn't work. Don't step there ever again." They moved my character to the nearest town and everything was fixed.

Not really frustrating or ridiculous, but definitely weird.

Any time when I try to install Carmageddon 2 on a modern OS, when it runs there's no sound but most of the time it won't run and will crash with an error showing.

Irony is big on this on since I can run the first Carmageddon on W8 without the need for dosbox.

I can't access my Mass Effect 1 at all due to either save files with DLC present or, DLC in general. The only way to remedy this is by playing the game online. This is a problem however because...well, it's the Xbox 360 version of the game. I shouldn't have to play a single-player, console game online: that's freaking ridiculous!

Speaking of the Xbox 360: I bought and downloaded Sonic the Hedgehog umpteen million years ago. I played long enough to unlock a couple of achievements then stopped playing it: never deleting it but not using it. Unlike the Mass Effect issue, I can still play offline...however, I can't access the full game. Despite re-downloading and, trying to maintain a connection with Live, I can only go as far as the first boss before I get the same message to 'buy the full game' which I obviously already has since XBL even acknowledges that I have the damn game!

I bought FF7 last night on Steam, and it took me about an hour to get the damn thing running because Square put a freaking launcher in front of the game that forces you to sign in with them before you can play. For starters I had to figure out why I had to come up with a new nickname and why it wasn't the one already associated with my account, so I spent about 45 minutes looking into that to make sure I hadn't f'd something up; I made a square account for the FF14 beta and didn't want to break that somehow. Then it tells me I can't use my nickname, the same one already on my account, because it's currently in use.

Raeg Level: 20%

I then just lazily repeated the last letter in the nickname and Bob's your uncle, problem solved. I finally make it to the part where I can press the button "Play Game". Setting aside my current rage of already having it that button on steam 45 minutes ago, I settle in to see what makes FF7 such a legendary game. The Square Enix logo flashes across my screen, a handy, but useless, keyboard map pops up, and then nothing because it was sitting there trying to access cloud save files that didn't exist.

Fine, fine, I needed to use the bathroom anyway before I got the gaming marathon underway, so I adjourn to the porcelain throne for about five minutes. I return to find that same screen still staring at me. I'm a patient man so I let it sit for another 10 minutes or so while I get in a game of Plague Inc. Fifteen minutes have now passed and I am quite certain that something is amiss. I kill the program with the command prompt and get ejected back to the launcher where the message "The servers are currently offline"

Raeg Level: 60%
Warning, approaching critical mass.

"Oh fuck me," I exclaim, "You mean this game has an always-online requirement I failed to notice?" I check the options and find the one that lets me turn off the cloud saves. I again press the "Play game" button, which I am now an hour out from my initial press of it via Steam. I get to the screen with the handy, but not so useful, keyboard map and..."Looking for cloud saves."

Raeg Level: 110%
Emergency venting protocols activated. All non-essential personnel please evacuate the facility.

I was furious. I ranted and raved to the silent and unforgiving night. Why had I not been warned of this bullshit on the store page? Why the hell did Sqaure feel the need to tie this ancient as shit game their own digital store front on top of Steam? Why the fuck didn't I just set up my PS2 to play the original discs? (I then realized because I wanted to play it at an upscaled 1080p) Why didn't I just rip the discs myself and throw the isos into a PS1 emulator? I wanted a refund, this was highway robbery and they would just have to give me back the $8 I just wasted because this launcher bullshit was not listed on the store page.

But first I had to check and be sure ... "Requires a Square Enix Account" ... in italics ... at the bottom of the system requirements ... Fuck.

So I shutdown the launcher and tried again but it still hung at the keyboard map, so I started mashing keys. I must have hit the correct key to bypass the useful but not useful keyboard map because there was a "bing" and the opening credits that precede the title screen began rolling. I then immediately said "Fuck this noise" and went to sleep.

I think today I'll just rip my discs to a folder and run them off an emulator since the PC port from Steam only runs them in the SD 4:3 box and with an emulator I can stretch the image to 16:9 with an upscale to 1080p. The game already looks like ass so I doubt I'll really notice any quality differences. And yes, I bought the game when I already had a copy lying around. I wanted a copy of it on my PC and felt supporting Squares decision to release the FF7 PC port to Steam would be a vote for possibly other final fantasy games making their way there. I now see that was a mistake so I'll just be using the copy I already had from now on. (also yes I have a copy and have never played it for the reason that my sister was a selfish child who would not share her games with me, so I bought my own copies in high school and never got around to playing them.)

From what I understand, yes. Although even that could have a workaround such as using the Fn or Func key as there is usually an alternate coloured text on a laptop keyboard that has the numberpad built in.

Did you try copying the @ symbol from a random page and then paste it in the game?

OT:
I have this Baldur's Gate 4-in-a-box set, but I can't play BG1 and its expansion since it apparently only installs on a US OS?
It isn't much of a problem since I own BG1 seperately. I only miss out on its expansion because I'm too lazy to find a workaround(of which I'm sure there are numerous).
BG2 works fine.

Unfortunately I did, and no dice :( I did find a workaround though, that would probably have taken someone technologically able about 5 minutes to find :)

No joy unfortunately :( I own a HP Pavilion dv6 - the retarded kid brother of the regular laptop.
