Here is another game from the PS1, you could create your own characters and their attacks, like frame by frame, but the tools for it were so bad that usually this would be the end result:

The Force Unleased 2... Seriously. It prides itselfs on Look at the Shiny Shiny Graphix, but it's just an empty shell.
I got really excited when I saw the first trailer, I loved TFU1.

TFU2 just felt like TFU 0.5 with a new story. They got rid of all the cool combos.
Me too ! The only major complain I head about TFU 1 was the long loading times.

TFU 2 was boring. Not only did they get rid of the cool combo's, but they gave you almost every force power from the beginning :/. No character progression at all.

The boss battles were a joke as well (seriously, Darth Vador was boring to fight). I kinda like the jedi battles in TFU 1, even if they could've handled them better.

Also, how they handled combat. I can see what they were trying to achieve by giving each enemy it's own weakness, forcing you to combine Force powers with the lightsabers, but they screwed up. You weren't combining anything. It was just Enemy Type A with Attack A,Enemy type B with attack B etc... Those bigger enemies with the QTE were just meh. The first one you see is cool, but if you have to repeat it like 10 times in a 6 hour game ? :/. Just lke the "falling from heights" parts. Yeah they were cool, but repetition made them tedious.

Storyline was a joke. Just when it got some resemblence of momentum, the game ends. Can't believe I payed 60 euro's for that.
Yeah, they could have tried more variation on the combat. Also, I saw loads of stuff about Yoda being in it, lol.

It's not even worth playing to understand the plot of Defiance, especially since that game has the entire backstory right there in the manual.

My example is without question Metroid: Other M. You already knew about the character assasination, but what you didn't know about was the shallow, uninteresting, unfun, unchallenging gameplay that will absolutely bore you to tears. Oh, and the real final boss is Phantoon. Yay!

Resonance of fate. I honestly thought I'd never find a JRPG I didn't like. Then this skidmark came along.
Seriously dude? Next to Xenoblade Chronicles, it's probably the best JRPG of the current gen.

Sadly, Metroid Other M. For any fan of the Metroid series this is a game to steer away from lest one risk their perception of the whole series getting tarnished (I'd include the last several mins of Mass Effect 3 for the same reason.) Not only does it ruin the character of Samus Aran but it is an ill-conceived mess that is just horrendously broken and plays horrendously poorly.
You can't say a game isn't fun because of some bad voice acting/writing.
Haha oooooh yes, yes you can. If the voice-acting is so awful that you spend more time laughing at the apathetic-sounding third-grader doing what appears to be a poorly worded schoolplay than you spend trying to follow the storyline, then the fun stops.

Or, actually, you are enjoying yourself by laughing AT the game, but this gets old very quickly..

Perfect Dark Zero. A hideous, horrible, disgusting game that embodies everything wrong with "classic" console FPSes.
I actually bought that as a launch title for my 360. I Hated it so much.

-Bad level design, and the game knows it by having little arrows guide you to where you need to go if you stay still for more than 20 seconds.
-Story is awful, and Joanna isn't even British.
-Gameplay is just eh.

Exactly, like only one guy mentioned Big Rigs and that is one of the best examples for a game that isnt worth playing, the rest of the guys seem to just choose one game of the popular ones and say how much they dont like it.
Do you mean like this guy?

Any FPS with regenerating health.

Any FPS with a cover mechanic.

Any FPS with 2 guns or less. Exception being TF2 because giving infinite gun use in a team based game would off balance it.

99% of all third person shooters ever made.

Diablo 3. (real money pay to win house + no customizable stats + limit on amount of skills I can use + infinite respecing = Do Not Want)

WWE games.

Sports games.

Every Need For Speed game made after Underground 2. (exception being Carbon which was fun)

Any game with any form of combat or feeling of competition. Journey would be a prime example.

Mass Effect 2.

Mass Effect 3.

Dragon Age 2.

Anything Nintendo has ever made with the exceptions of Brawl, Mario Kart, and Pokemon.

Civilization 5. (let's ruin the combat with 1 unit per tile and dumb down the diplomacy while making the AIs be even dumber @ there own game than before sounds like fantastic ideas /sarcasm)

Any 2D fighting games.

Most JRPGs made from the time FF 10 was released until now. For most due to them going away from the combat systems from the days of FFs 4 - 9. (kinda bad where fing Pokemon has some of the best turn based combat out of games made in the last 10 years. even as a Pokemon fan that saddens me) Anyway the exceptions to this are Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey both being epic in there own ways. And it must be said Dark Souls mainly because I personally never considered the souls series a JRPG but instead a WRPG that happens to be made by a Japanese company.
I'm honestly only quoting 7Sins for the benefit of the first person I quoted, the only thing I even want to touch about your post is that I believe you meant "Any game withOUT any form of combat or feeling of competition".

As for myself, Rage. I have no clue if it's any better now than it was on release, but when it was released it was nothing but a glorified tech demo, and a terrible one at that. Half of the textures that they touted as being "revolutionary" new technology looked murky, washed out, and low res because of how much compressing they needed to do, it had bugs out the ass, crashed one out of every three times I went through a loading screen, and had functional but mediocre gunplay at best. It was a waste of 20+ GB on my hard drive.

I'mma take the hippy-dippy answer and say that all games are worth at least a half-hour of gameplay. Legendary was a legendary failure but the premise alone makes it worth a glance. Final Fantasy XIII and, 2 have a lot of fans where the only nice thing I can say about it is how it's like Jillian from Family Guy (freaking beautiful for what it is but annoying as Hell). Personally, I wouldn't play any of EA's sports games. Not because I dislike sports in general or, because I'm hardcore anti-EA (although those are factors) but because I really don't care too much for the genre in general. Not even Mario can make most sports titles appeal to me.

If this thread goes on long enough we are going to have every game possible in here so ill just simplify it the games not worth playing are the ones you dont enjoy and thats it. I could name a few games I did not care for in the slightest and consider a complete waste of my time but it would have no meaning for someone else who may have had a completely different experience with them and genuinely enjoyed them.
That seems like the best answer to me.

The last one I played was DMC4, and you know a game's bad when half-way in that game tells you to turn around and run back to the start for the final boss, fighting a slightly different-coloured version of all the bosses you've fought already.

Last one I played was DMC4
Last... DMC4
No way the last devil may cry game you played was the newest one?!
I'm sorry, but i had to. My inner asshole coming out to play a little.

OT: Dynasty Warriors games.
At least don't buy every single generation and their spinoffs. That's a little much.

No. No you can't. Because the gameplay is still fun, therefor the game is still fun.

If you eat a pie with poor packaging does the pie suddenly taste like crap?
Flawed analogue: The voice-acting is part of the gameplay, and thus part of the "pie", and not just packaging. I see story as a crucial part of the gameplay, and they ruined it. So I can call bullshit on it. YOU can of course say "I don't care about story/don't care about voice-acting, and the story is still good" and I can say "Okey, fine, you don't care, but I do, and I am calling it".

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Beastiality, poor controls and was just so ugly to look at. Embodies everything wrong with the Sonic franchise.

Crysis 2. I found it boring, with no gripping story elements and clunky gameplay (I was playing on Xbox 360). The stealth parts were pretty cool...but that was about it.

Risen (Console) - Its just bad, the controls suck, the voice acting is frighteningly bad, and overall its just boring, I player the game for about 2 hours then I just hated it and traded it in.

FarCry 2 - Its like the characters have no knowledge of what punctuation is and it is annoying as hell and really immersion breaking because the characters just go on and on If you buy the DLC for the game you get a load of OP weapons that you get at the start of the game see what I did there I just randomly changed topic but you didn't know because punctuation doesn't exist in FarCry 2

Crysis 2 - Its all "Look at my shiny graphics, but my story, multiplayer and mechanics suck, but still, SHINY!" (Also what is it with Crytek putting a "Cry" in all of their game name?)

L.A. Noire Complete Edition:

I finally got around to this game and was pretty psyched. Unfortunately the games early missions have almost no gameplay. You can't skip cutscenes and you can't save during missions. When you fail at something, you frequently have to rewatch 1-2 minutes of footage that can't be skipped.

It's like playing a bad version of Heavy Rain mixed in with poor version of Mafia 2. Maybe the game gets better after the first 8 or so missions. But I'll probably never know.
