I used to travel by public transportation a lot, and Fallout 2 kept me from cannibalizing the guy next to me out of sheer boredom. Also Final Fantasy 3 (don't any of you damn jrpg fanboys correct me) and Castlevania on the GBA, for when the battery of the laptop died (its an old Dell, and the battery was recalled shortly after I bought it, but I am lazy, sooooo....).
I suggest a gameboy. The older (and better) models are not that hard to come by, and relatively cheap, and make playing in a crowded and cramped area actually feesable.

I emulate Paper Mario on my computer without any use of the mouse. (The camera angel isn't controlled by the player, but it's almost a side-scroller so it hardly matters.) Maybe play some older console games that don't really require much more than a directional pad or two and an A and B button.
Great, i forgot all about emulation. I have a nice n64 emulator :)

Civ4 is on Steam I believe. Definitely worth it!
Otherwise, Master of Orion 2. That game will make time pass faster than relativistic flight...

Battlefield Heroes [http://www.battlefieldheroes.com/en/frontpage/landingPage] isn't all that demanding, and it's free.

FALLOUT 3. I know it's your stereotypical response but still. for a long trip there is nothing better.

I recommend Toki Tori - playable with mouse, keyboard or gamepad and all work just fine.

Second that you could delve into old DOS classics like Commander Keen, Raptor: Call of the Shadows, Duke nukem 1 & 2, Monster Bash, etc.

Thirdly, mouseless ROMS are good. Pick up some classic NES/SNES/GENESIS roms and have a good time!

I'd say if you have a psp then get ether disgaea 1 or 2. The grinding kept me going for a 5 hour coach trip.

but for laptop then I'd say check out some good cheap idni games. many of them don't need a mouse and they can be very fun. but not all of them have a long lifespan so ...

TrackMania Nations Forever.
Has the plus side that it's legitimately free....
Should run on your laptop quite well too.

I'm tired of the motherf*cking games, on this motherf*cking plane!
Now that that's out of the way, I'm gonna go with Civ IV
