Games (or game franchises) that you hate on because of their popularity...

I think OP doesn't mean "hate because it's popular" and more like how Yahtzee put it, it's the fans. I would have to go with Portal and Zelda as well. Don't get me wrong, Zelda is my ALL TIME favorite series. I love that series with a passion and I alternate tracks on the OST as my alarm (currently Kokiri Village). But I feel that the "fans" really do ruin it a bit because I can do my thing and love Zelda or Portal, but it just gets so annoying when you hear kids who over-use certain quotes or references. It's impressive when they can make it a deeper, more obscure one, but when they just go "HEY. LISTEN. LOLOLOL NAVI SUUUXX.. SO ANNOUNG OMG!!1xD" that's when I want to shoot people. I have some friends who quote "The cake is a lie" and have never played a Portal game or even knew where it was from.
I use to draw Triforces on my hand and pretend I was Link, then a friend who never played a Zelda game started doing it.
Raaaaaage.

Aside from games, I feel this way about everything Apple. Sorry, applefanboys, but queing in line for a day and a half to get the iPad2 is retarded.
"Playbook had no ques. That's because BlackBerry users have jobs."
A bit harsh, but oh so so funny.
I hate how trendy everything Apple is. The culture it's created turns me off their products.

Yay, always fun to find another Type-Moon fan in some (any) capacity. <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.230960-TYPE-MOON-reviews-Melty-Blood>Try as I <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.223721-TYPE-MOON-Review-anniversary-Fate-Stay-Night>might, they still don't get much exposure.
I'm not all that big of a fan of it, but anything vampire related has a tendency to get some bonus points from me. So, not quite. Sorry if that disappoints. :\

Vampirism is a bit of an obsession of mine. I also like BloodRayne 2 (the game) as well, despite not caring all that much for the gameplay itself.

Also, just so nobody gets the wrong idea, I can't state this enough, but Edward Cullen is not a vampire. I loathe that annoying emo bastard.

Nah. It's mainly the lack of exposure that gets to me most, more than people liking the games or not. Though if it's <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.128851-TYPE-MOON-reviews-Tsukihime>vampires that you like...

...sorry. Habit. I know it's a pretty long shot. ^^;

None, because hating something because it's popular is stupid.
This, this, so much this. I have never hated a game just because it's popular. I've played popular games and liked them (Halo, Bejeweled and other "casual" games, et cetera) and I've played popular games and disliked them (Call of Duty, Farmville). I do not go in with a set 'like' or 'dislike' just because something's popular. Assassin's Creed, for instance, is one of my favorite franchises. That's popular. I still adore it.

I refuse to play Mass Effect because of everyone I know being all "Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, you have to play this."
...So a bunch of your friends are recommending it to you, therefore you don't want to play it? Perhaps I'm reading this wrong, but that doesn't make sense to me. Care to explain?
Hes stubborn. Takes one to know one. I'm pretty stubborn with my game suggestions. Get this, my friend suggested pestered that I play minecraft, in retaliation I said minecraft was a terrible game and I hated it. Here I am almost a year later, loving the game.

Anyways, I don't hate many franchises because they're popular. I only hate them cuz they're bad (IMO of course).

Having people constantly bugging you to play something you are genuinely not interested in over and over again can be really frustrating. It's even more frustrating when you don't have the means to play it in the first place. I got so fed up with it I still won't play it even though I now have a 360. Understand it or not, that's how it it.

You make a strong point when you say the fans fuel my anti-happy...

Nope, doing so would be utterly moronic.
I form my own opinions on the things I see.

Case and point: I like WoW.
I don't play it nearly as much as I use to, but I still like it.
