Assassin's Creed. As far as unique gameplay goes, there's nothing quite like it. It's not really a "hardcore" game but rather an experience to savour. It needs to be enjoyed rather than trying to beat the game.
And you can enjoy it all on the first mission - then it gets tedious.
I agree it gets boring after the first mission

A positive topic for once. Talk about games that are often cited as overated but you think are great. At the moment it's Resident Evil 4 for me.
Also: http://immoralgamers.com/?p=41, to have something extra to disagree with.
Meh. I think the articles abit crap. Ok, GTA IV was overhyped, and so was Metal Gear Solid in my opinion. And Bioshock, to me, was poor (I can honestly say I got bored part way through).

But the Orange Box? WTH? It reads like he's not even played the damn thing. "Half-Life 2 is clearly dated (the damn engine it was built on is dated), but everyone seems unwilling to admit it." - Ok, it doesn't look as overly shiny as Unreal 3 engine games, but I don't see how they are all that better. Gears of War and Unreal look nice, but too visually "noisy" to me -- like a CGI version of reality.

And Fallout 3? How was that overhyped?!? Everywhere I went, people said it'd be crap because it changed things from the original 2. Given its not complete crap (in my opinion again, I like it) how is it overhyped when there was no hype?
