Lollipop chainsaw. I loved suda 51 and James Gunn, and It was that awkward moment when I stepped into the game store and asked for it. it was alright. Not the best thing, not the worse.

The first thing that comes to mind is The World Ends With You. I remember it getting a lot of attention on some of the Kingdom Hearts fansites because the guy involved with that, Tetsuya Nomura, was involved in TWEWY too. I didn't really think too much of it, but then I would occasionally glance at some reviews of it online and it was doing pretty well score wise. A few months later, I happened to find the last copy of it in Gamestop, and I was craving to buy something, so I said "What the Hell", and bought it.

Became one of my favorite games ever. It was also one of the few games that pushed me to (read: made me comfortable with) trying to get 100% completion.

The other game I got was Nier. I remember it getting some attention because of its character Kaine and her whole nonsense that was going on with that. Christmas was coming around, and I knew it was an RPG, so I asked for it. Didn't know about the amazing music, the different endings, the great voice acting, and the super depressing revelations once you replay the game again. Again, another one of my favorite games.

Can't really think of too much else. Usually I now get a lot of these type of games thanks to being a Playstation Plus member and getting them through amazing sales. Tales of Xillia was a good example of this (not my favorite game ever, but was really glad I purchased it for $10), Limbo was not. Haven't tried out too much yet since I plan on getting a PS Vita and playing them on there.

I pre-ordered Duke Nukem Forever, knowing full well is was going to be horrible, just to see how horrible it would be.

Do I get a prize?
Well, you got Duke Nukem Forever on release didn't you?

If that's not a prize I don't know what is.

Not really my thing. I've never gotten the whole "So bad that it's good" thing. It works when you have someone offering funny commentary, but otherwise, games are either "good" or "bad" for me.

For me it would have to be Long Live the Queen. When it was first on the front page of steam I half joked about it, but then looking at some of the more odd screenshots it got me curious. Well, it went on sale and my curiosity won out and I bought it. It is an amusing little time waster game that I still have not got a happy ending on, but I'm glad I got it.

On the more hated game front, would be BRINK. Which would be my most regretted purchase I ever made.

Corpse Party? Guro with panty shots. Bought it. Morbid curiosity satisfied.

Long Live the Queen? Death, death, death, death, death, death, fucking magical girl pretty pink moe death. Morbid curiosity satisfied.

Phantasmagoria? A crudely made "rape scene" and horrible acting with a horrible plot with a very horrible orange sweater/black jeans combination? Morbid curiosity satisfied.

Fallout New Vegas? Knew it was gonna be a buggy piece of crap that either couldn't live up to Fallout 3 or its prequels. Pleasantly surpsised. Kind of. Morbid curiosity satisfied.

Duke Nukem Forever because why not?

I'm great at making bad decisions knowingly.

I almost bought Kane & Lynch for $2 a couple days ago until the guy told me it's too scratched up to fuck to play. I wasn't ready for it anyways.

I got sonic '06 to see if it was really THAT bad. The fact it made other sonic games that are already terrible look like they where crafted by god, I would say so.
I did this not only with Sonic 06 but also Sonic Unleashed and, the two story-book games on the Wii...I was somewhat surprised by how much better 06 was than the Wii games and even though bits of Unleashed are undeniably better than 06, 06 was the only one I was able to beat to completion.

I also bought Duke Nukem Forever for $15 and I was honestly not disappointed. It wasn't great by any means but it was enjoyable the first and, third times through (mainly because my third playthrough was the cheats-are-on playthrough for me).

Alpha Protocol - Ended up loving it, yeah it could do with a bit more polish and the stealth was way over powered (Except in the boss fights...you better have put some points into pistols or you are so screwed) All in all I think that given another 6 months or so for the devs to polish it up then it'd have been a smash hit.

Metro 2033: Wtf is this? Some sort of Russian Fallout clone? Meah it's only £2.50 I'll give it a go... best.bargin.game.everz! Wow, man did they get the atmosphere right in that game.

The first time one of these jumped out at me i think i may have peed my pants a little.

Ride to Hell: Retribution [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1HTKWX15oo]

Got this in advance of a BBQ with friends, all gamers, many of whom never heard of it.
Had food, grabbed some beers, sat 'round the TV and told them I was going to show them one of the greatest games ever. What followed was an hour of uncontrollable, hysterical laughter.

Some of the best £8 I spent in my life.

Woo boy, this could classify as my other hobby. I am a bad video game vulture, I just gotta look. Big Rigs? Superman 64? Yup. I'll list the ones I can remember.
-Final Fantasy XIII
-Alan Wake(lotta people like it, but all my friends rained shit on it)
-Army of Two(yeah, and the sequel too, "help me Tys!" "I'm coming Eliot!" Yeah, burned into my brain. Eliot Salem was always needing a hand up.)
-Final Fantasy XIV(BIG TRAIN WRECK, ARR is nice though)
-Bioshock 2(not so much a bad rep, but people said it was crap and unnecessary as a sequel, I loved it)
-Fallout New Vegas(not bad, but dem bugs)
-Heavy Rain(honestly David, handle a controller before you decide to map buttons at random)
-Beyond Two Souls(yeah, less said the better)
-XCOM The Bureau(actually liked it. It's Mass Effect in an XCOM universe)

Deus Ex Invisible War. I was a massive fan of the original but never got the sequel. I heard it get announced and then everything went quiet on that front. So I completely forget about it until years later when I heard all the horror stories surrounding it. I then saw in a steam sale for £2 one day and though to myself "it can't have been as bad as they say, can it?" Needless to say I was wrong, so very very wrong.

I didn't ever think you could regret spending £2 on a game before that day, and now the game just sits in my steam library in it's own category entitled 'Oh God Why?!' forever as reminder of it's outstandingly broken awfulness.

Got another one: I bought UnEpic, Mutant Mudds, Mighty Switch Force, Little Inferno and, Puddle out of morbid curiosity. Basically, just a number of indie games I found on eShop. Out of them, I was mostly entertained by Little Inferno and, Mutant Mudds. Puddle felt like a waste of money and I haven't had much interest in UnEpic...it didn't leave a great impression on me. MSF was alright though. Out of everything I've bought from the eShop though my favorite things have been Shovel Knight and the various Virtual Console games I've picked up. NES Remix and 2 were alright though I knew what I was getting into when I downloaded those so, not so much morbid curiosity with those two.

Maybe I'll Let's Play it at some point.
It's sad for me that most of the games listed in this thread alone are things I've purcahsed for my Summer of Shit LP block.
Ride to Hell Retribution (and the DLC), Sonic 06, Sonic Genesis (GBA version), Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis, Superman 64, Aliens: Colonial Marines, and Duke Nukem Forever (this one more for the disappointment it caused). By the end of summer I'm gonna hate my life.

Other games I've bought out of morbid curiosity also include: Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly (GameCube version), Shadow the Hedgehog (have to LP it sadly), and a few Genesis/Megadrive cartridges I can't seem to find at the moment.
