Pikmin 2 was quite gnarly, but it only became actually scary in the submerged castle. Because as I was happily wandering around looking at things all of a sudden some surreal entity called a water wraith came out of nowhere and bulldozed half my Pikmin hoarde. And then it chased me mercilessly through a huge labyrinth.

I once played Gran Turismo on mescaline and was really scared of what would happen if I were to crash, because the couch had no seatbelts.
Now that sounds fun. I think I played Mario Kart while on mushrooms once. It didn't make a whole lot of sense.
It's Mario Kart... It's not supposed to make sense, 'cause it's awesome!

Until you have the Gauss rifle, Point Lookout is scary....also, my GOTY edition had bugs all over Point Lookout...such as where some dogs attack you and then some of those bloat flies..and the garbage heap in the middle of the swamp.....the first time I played that part..a car was suspended about 200 feet in the air, and of course it crashed...

Fallout 3. Between the Gary vault and the Dunwich Building, I was genuinely afraid.

And don't even get me started about the Deathclaw Sanctuary.
Gaaaaaryy!! That game had some seriously messed up parts.

Dragon Age: Origins scared me at times. Mostly it was the spiders ambushing you because it would be silent and then "HISSS!" and five spiders would drop from the ceiling. I could always tell that it was going to happen, just not when.
Tranquility lane was FUCKED UP! The Oasis, too!
OT: The Donkey Kong Country game over screen scared the crap outta me when I was 5.

Why does everyone keep saying point lookout was scary? I thought those bubbling methane sludge puddles were putrid but nothing really scared me, the enemies made me laugh with there southerm accents, I kinda wish that if I shot myself theyd go "HE TOOK'D MAH JAWB!"

yes they were meant to be scary but I found Deathclaw Sanctuary slightly nervous among anything else.

I found Vault 106 slightly doggy the first time

OT: The ghost chicken things from Rayman 2 scared the shit out of me when I was younger. I always thought they were floating behind my bed.

Resident Evil 1, on reflection, is not at all scary (because it's way too B-movie) but I played it as a kid and it fucking freaked me, especially the first zombie.

One of the Soul Reaver games. You had to jump down into a pit, and I outright refused to because I was absolutely terrified of what was down there.
I was 10, gimme a break.
