S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Shadow of Chernobyl, I remember a lot of hype around that, then it came out and seemed to fly under the radar for most people I knew, shame to because its a great atmospheric game, marred I think by being buggy as hell at release heh
what are you talking about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow Of Chernobyl has sold more than 2 million units and spawned a sequel and a prequel, not to mention another is currently in development...

The Last Remnant, it's my favorite Square Enix game, but it's not very well known (probably because it's a SE game that isn't Final Fantasy...)
it's also the only current gen Square Enix game to get a PC release...

...and the PC release runs a whole lot better too.
true, but it's also on the xbox, so that shouldn't be a reason why it's not well-known.

huh, well must just be in my circle of friends then that it went unnoticed heh, I shall hush my mouth and retract my statement, didnt know it sold that many, though I was aware of the other games

Second Sight.

The game "Made by the people that brought you the Timesplitters series" yet wasn't a Timesplitters game.

Which probably explains why nobody remembers/bought the game.

One of the best storylines out there, though.

Voodoo Vince.

It was never that big to begin with but it seemed to have gone right under everyone's radar. It was very imaginative, funny and, different. It was even open to a sequel. You play as the 3rd best Voodoo Doll in the shop, trying to save your creator by harming yourself and punching the germs from Dr. Mario.

Also, why is Crimson Skies not a major franchise? The Xbox game was generally seen as really-really good. Maybe it was just a bit too different though...the zeppelins you blow up aren't SS after all...

There's a few good ones mentioned already, so I'll just say Blue Dragon. Everyone was all "OMG, it's from the Final Fantasy guys!" and then it launched, tanked and all but disappeared.

It also came out at almost the exact same time as another telekinesis game (Psi-Ops I think?) that had more of an action focus and received some pretty solid reviews. That stole any thunder that Second Sight would have had.

Ooh, I have that for the Xbox and really liked it. It wasn't amazing but it definitely didn't get the attention it deserved.

Diablo II, it is still alive but no one really plays it. It was gone UNTIL Blizzard announced Diablo III
Actually there is still rather a large community of players online.

I feel the same way about Viewtiful Joe, it barely popular enough to make a second game, but the third never made it, at least before Clover studios went down. Then we got a terrible multi-player SSBB knock off and a sub par DS game. It really sucks because the games were a series and the 3rd was supposed to be the last, think if they did that with a movie trilogy, made 1 and 2, but 3 never it made to the box office.
THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A 3RD?...shit, those were fun games
Yeah, it kind of hinted at the end of second, and then later there was an announcement for it, then after there was the announcement of Clover studios disbanding. I am not sure as to whom truly owns the rights to Viewtiful Joe, I assume that it was the heads of Clover Studios, though I would be very annoyed to find out that Capcom owns them, because that would mean that they are just uninterested or lazy. Two things I don't really expect from them.

I can think of several games that were wonderful in their day and for some reason they were never continued further than a few sequels. We get modern remakes of Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear (which wasn't that successful on NES), Bomberman, Bionic Commando, and Gauntlet; but where are our other favorites? Where are:
Battletoads (1 NES and 1 SNES sequel)
The Adventures of Lolo (2 NES sequels)
Adventure Island (2 NES sequels)
Crystalis
Double Dragon (multiple sequels)
Little Nemo: the Dream Master
Rampage (several sequels)
StarTropics (and Zoda's Revenge)
Chrono Trigger (1 quasi-sequel: Chrono Cross)
Primal Rage
Earthbound (Mother 2)
Okami (It's pretty recent; it was incredible and got good coverage, but nobody bought it. Amaterasu deserves better-at least she'll be in MvC3)

Whatever happened to The Suffering? Those (along with Eternal Darkness, damn them for forgetting that and working on Too Human) were the only horror games that ever actually worked for me. For some reason Condemned feels a bit like it for some reason, but aren't as good IMO.

I just randomly remember this old game. "Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg" When this game came out i saw it every were, in magazines, online, on tv, Nintendo Power had whole secton for tips and tricks for it. In case you haven't played its basically a "Linear Katamari without the Crack" but what im trying to get at is that when it was out it was big but today... where did it go? no one has mentioned it really or talked about it, it kinda just faded away even though it was on a throne for some reason. Can you recall any game like this, Big when it came out but nowadays no one even knows about it?
If it matters, "The Egg Rolling Game" as my niece calls it (she's four), is the best game ever made as far as she's concerned. If it could be remade with the Zombies On Your Lawn song (her favorite song), she'd never leave the Gamecube and TV I gave her.

I gotta say Castlevania Order of Ecclesia. Alot of talk went into that game and then everyone forgot about it. Same for Singularity and Persona 4./\

Alpha Protocol. It was half finished, so I can see why no one speaks of it anymore.

I also can't figure out how Obsidian confused 'Suave' with 'Be a complete wanker'. It's not something you can really get wrong.

Thrillville Off the Rails. It was supposed to be one of the better family titles on the 360, but kinda went belly up and sunk into the bargain bins. Also, Fire Pro Wrestling Returns. A dedicated community that just kinda went underground over night.
