The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Don't get me wrong, I like this game alot, but every videogame website and many players foam at the mouth at mention of this game, uttering phrases like 'best zelda game ever' or 'best n64 game ever' or the worst of them all, 'THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME'.

A Link to the Past is (IMO) a better Zelda game, and Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie and GoldenEye are all better N64 games

God of War series and inFAMOUS. Also not huge on FO3 or Oblivion, though I have enjoyed both.

Anything by Bioware, don't get me wrong Mass Effect 1 and 2 are good games but the lengths everyone here on this site goes to to praise this company is ridiculous for what games I've seen them come out with..an average developer does not deserve such praise

Same happens with Halo and a bunch of other games that just don't do anything new or spectacular but are praised by the whole world, silly stuff

FUCKING HALF LIFE! WHAT THE FUCK IS THE BIG DEAL? SERIOUSLY?

also, THERE IS NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT GORDON FREEMAN. PERIOD.

Please try to avoid all-caps. Mod.
Half Life was one of the first FPS's that emphasized exploration as well as shooting not to mention the use of narrative being delivered through in game cinematic. Before Half Life story in the real popular FPSs (Doom, Duke Nukem etc) relied on cut scenes and level to level progress. Half Life broke the mold where the entire Black Mesa Facility was open for exploration and figuring out where to go next was just as big of a challenge as well as making sure the bad guys didn't kill you.

When it comes to the cinematic, the omission of cut scenes where there to emphasize that you are Gordon Freeman. All the information that was presented to you was from either NPC dialogue, radio chatter or simple signs on the wall. The player never left Gordon's perceptive as the whole deal about Gordon Freeman is that he is the player. The reason why he's not special is that Valve wanted to give the players the freedom to fill in the missing details themselves.
