Garry's mod (the more complicated mechanisms)
Rollercoaster Tycoon (all)
Some of the larger custom Doom 2 maps.

There are others, but its 1:40 AM, and I need sleep.

A little flash game called 'Meat Boy.'
Remember those Rom hacks that were designed by people who hated players? Imagine someone collected a bunch of those and adapted it to a flash game, and you get Meat Boy.
It's incredibly fucking difficult, especially if you try to get all the bandages too.
But it's so much fun. And it's so well designed. It kicks you in the pants lovingly.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix. I realize it's a lot easier than some other MC games, but there are still moments (many, many moments) where you'll lose through no fault of your own, but as a result of random crap just happening as you close in on the finish line. I've had police cars jump onto me like linebackers, buses and trucks block entire lanes of traffic as a result of my AI opponent sideswiping him, buses that camp RIGHT at the landing point of an almost required ramp jump section and AI foes who will kamikaze themselves into me.

With all that bile dispensed, the game is just perfect in every other area. I love my tricked-out '63 Corvette.

Also, Black for the PS2 is another good pick for me. I used to think I hated the game, but then realized that as much as I sometimes despised it, I couldn't stop playing. I had to admit that I liked most of the game, it was just that certain levels (despite being a lot of fun) could annoy me to no end (Spetriniv Gulag... GRRR!)

Strangely, I've never really been all that frustrated by some of the obvious candidates, like God Hand or DMC3: SE.

Any of the pro-evolution soccer games. I love them so much yet every player wants to disobey me at some time in the game and will decide to pass in a completely different direction to the one i want. That and players who are supposed to be running on to through balls suddenly slow down to such a point that a defender having a cup of tea with his mother in an old peoples home can carry her and her zimmerframe on to the pitch and assist her in stripping the ball from me. When i was younger it was the cause of death for many a playstation and peripherals but now it just stops me from giving up smoking.

I am surprised no one has mentioned...

DIABLO 2

Jesus, the game is incredibly long, and has you running round for hours fighting wave after wave after wave of enemies that you slowly slog your way through, and every fucking mission is either a kill quest or a fetch quest. This game is the bane of my existence and I am finding that working my way through Hell difficulty (the way you actually finish the game) is more of a chore than fun. But I am still playing it, because while the grind and quests represent everything I loathe about a game, its a truly wonderful masterpiece and I can't stop playing it.

Bah.

Hey, this is why I LOVE Diablo 2. So many monsters, so much to kill, and it doesn't get any easier...

As for me, Ninja Gaiden 2. Unless I get killed 20 times in a row by non-Boss monster, I play the game, play, play play and play some more. At least I would, if I had an XBox. But only my cousin has Xbox AND Ninja Gaiden 2. My sister's boyfriend has an XBox, they play together, I played with him... but he doesn't have NG2. Too bad.

Motor Storm Pacific Rift. Despite the numerous crashes and setbacks, I find myself cursing, but retrying the race anyway until i succeed.
