Games that have caused you to throw your controller

I'd say you're probably in the minority if you don't at least once throw your controller or bang it on the desk/ground/whatever. You play games for the challenge most of the time after you complete them for the first go, something I always do is go on to play the hardest mode for the challenge. The most recent time I got angry was Mass Effect 2. On the hardest difficulty when you have the close the three shutters after meeting Archangel. The first two were fine, the third however always managed to be a hard fight up to where I died several times because of the Varren running up to me in cover and knocking me out to get shot up by everyone else, but when I finally reached the shutter it would tick down to 1 second and then a varren would come sprinting up and the door would stop shutting and I'd have to do it again. That was annoying.

I'd have to count the number of controllers and keyboards I've broken, then remember which games they were broken too. Hmmmm....

*7 ps2 controllers so far. Can't remember them all, but I'm pretty sure:

#1 PS2 Controler on Devil May Cry 1 - Scorpion Boss. Wtf was with that jerk? Especially when you finally work out how to kill him and it's SO EASY!! Grrr.

#1 PS2 Controller on Pyschonauts - There's this really annoying jumping puzzle at the end, and thanks to a terrible camera placement, and a really nasty section, you'd get hit by fire and just keep dying over and over.

#1 PS2 Controller on Shadow of the Collossus - The time trials. Bad, bad idea. Those ****ers just wont stop shaking their ****ing heads long enough for you to get a grip, and that clock is ticking.

#1 PS2 controller on Tekken 5 - **** that ****ing end boss and his ****ing cheating mother****ing combos. **** him right in the ***.

I've destroyed only 1 PS3 controller, and damaged the other 2 I own (though they appear to work fine). Can't remember which game I completely smashed a controller on, but the most recent damaging was on Dante's Inferno - Second last layer of hell is a series of 10 challenges. One of them is to kill all enemies without breaking your combat chain. Worst. Idea. Ever. The time between required hits is so inconsistant, for some reason I just had no end of trouble. Didn't actually throw the controller, but definitely clenched and twisted it, which resulted in the two sections seperating.

Destroyed 1 WiiMote and 1 Nunchuck over Super Smash Bros Brawl. Once again, the ****ing challenge modes. I also nearly destroyed one over Mario Galaxy too. That damn setting made up completely of dissappearing tiles..... omg.

6 keyboards all up. Can't remember on what. I'm pretty sure one was one Need For Speed: Most Wanted.... maybe.... ah well, I'll just quote this guy:

EVERY. DAMN. GAME. EVER.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. In real life I'm a perfectly reasonable, happy, considerate human being that would never dream of hurting anyone, rarely gets angry, and is extremely adverse to violence. get me on a machine though, and you'll hear language that would give a nun a heart attack, and witness a keyboard demolished so hard you'll be picking pieces out of the carpet for months (my room mates never really forgave me).

Meh. Entertainment meets stress relief. As long as it comes out of your pocket, no harm done.

Soul Calibur 3, Night Terror. I was playing my friend's PS2. Ended up knocking something in the controller out of place, so even though the controller worked fine, I had to buy my friend a new one. Eventually beat Night Terror, but it took a while and a lot of frustration to do so.

I've only thrown broken controllers for consoles.

otherwise, i throw hand-helds all the time, i don't have to necessarily be angry, i tend to throw them when i turn them off. Not onto the floor or anything, generally onto soft cushiony things, such as Sofas, Chairs, beds and the like. I know the hand-held can take it ^^ cute lil-psp that it is. DS is cool too.

I can have anger issues with games though, but i don't tend to let it get to the stage when i'm violent. Worst scenario was i'd had a bad day at school, thought i'd play some Zelda to get stress off my back. My '360' brother (I.E guy who only plays COD and Halo) comes and starts taking the mick, i wasn't doing too well at the time either and so i kicked my shoe off at him before storming out the room. Apologized later though.

Never, controllers are expensive, my rage to common sense ratio is firmly weighted towards common sense. I like my controllers......

Ultimate Spider-Man during the final Human Torch race. Also, during a few gunfights in both Uncharted games.

Most recently? Playing Mass Effect 2 on Insanity...
That God-damn Praetorian took me 20 minutes to kill, and 1 houur 30 mins to actually get the battle tactics down.....I am not looking forward to the next one because I just got onto the Collector Ship. Another case with ME2 is the Geth Colossus. It wasn't that difficult, its just because death is so easy and fast, which sets me back 30 minutes everytime I die.

It's generally rage moments when I die from some bullshit on a multiplayer game. And that's not a controller, that's me smashing my mouse onto my desk so hard it breaks.

The only game EVER that made me throw the controller is Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects. I got the game for free from a friend who destroyed his PS2 in rage because of this game. It's not just hard, it's impossible. There is no lock-on enemy button so you have to think where to hit cause every time you miss enemies will punish you with death! And enemies just keep attacking you even while you're down...especially when you're down. And flying enemies! They just fly past you and shoot you on their way. So you have to throw yourself in front of them in the line of fire to have a chance to punch them. And it takes away a lot of your health, and health packs don't exist. Instead, you heal when you kill an enemy which is useless cause if I could kill an enemy I wouldn't need health packs. Once I managed to kill all of them on that troublesome level only to realize it was only the first wave! I couldn't get past the Venom level. So, one day when I was trying to beat the damn level I threw my controller in rage and didn't touch the game ever since. It's a cursed game I tell you.

Just thinking about this game made me angry again. But it had some fancy graphics for a PS2 game.

I can think of many examples right off the bat but right now I am tearing my hair out over a sequence in the new Aliens Versus Predator game. Specifically playing from the Alien's side I have found myself stuck in a small room leading to a vent that then ends at a rather large cylindrical room that forces air straight up and pushes you to the ceiling and kills you. And my objective is at the bottom of that room, the objective just says:
Get down the ventilation shaft
Yet I have no idea what to do and there's nothing in the adjecent room that can help me.

I tell you, it makes me mad because of how fun the game had been previously, I really wish there weren't moments like that in games.

Ahhhhh got that out of my system, now I can rest a bit.
I know the part you speak of, when you come to that vent, go into focus mode and look at the vent across from you, it should allow a jump to it from the current vent, continue doing this all the way down.
I hope this helped.
EDIT: I, personally found this partpointless, also be wary of the sentries on the ground, they got me the first time(I was taken by surprise lol).

Not at the tv or anything, but I did throw it to my friend several times, to let him have a go at the game, and vise versa: God of War. That game can get tough!

And also MW2, mainly on the level in that log-house where the guys keep showing up non-stop for like 10 minutes on Veteran. (The trick is to hide behind the sofas, no-one sees you and you get at LEAST 5 shots on any enemy coming into the house before they see who's shooting them)
I just finished that level a couple days ago. I auto saved me at he top of the hill with no grenades, and both guns needed reloaded, right before the mortars started. It was definitely a tough one. I didnt throw anything, but I had to stop and come back to my pc three different times.
