I feel like Diablo 3 is one of those games they tried to do like the predecessor, I love Diablo 2, but still couldn't make it.
Also, I love the Mass Effect games and I love paper and pencil RPG kinda stuff. But I gotta admit, ME3 was alot more fun to play than ME1. Maybe in ME4 they'll continue to put more RPG stuff in, as they were doing that gradually. ME2 was really bare bones low on RPG aspects.
Though for what you're talking about, I feel like Call of Duty was what triggered these events.
LIke too much money diluted the pool of gamers.
