What games really stick out for you for some reason? Why?
(Also, games that you spent lots of time playing)

Prototype - the physics, wallrunning, flying etc were awesome, plus you can break, smash, or kill nearly everything.
Trine - a physics/puzzle game that lets you solve things however you want!
Spore(space stage only) - for being able to build a spacecraft and mess with planets
TF2 - for the ability to make each server unique (maps/mods), and for the players who are goofy enough to let all kinds of weird spontaneous stuff happen (you know what I mean).
DungeonRunners(RIP) - for being a humorous and sophisticated MMO.
Halo 1 & Halo Custom Edition - for many fun hours as the first online multiplayer game I played
Crysis - for "is that a photo?" graphics
Battlefield Bad Company 2 - for my guerrilla warfare fix
Killing Floor - for being better then L4D 1 and 2 at a lower price
Starcraft Series - for most unique feeling classes and races
Thief Series - for making me jump at small noises
Plants Vs Zombies - can we get a copy for android phones yet?!
World of Goo - for being awesome.
Starwars Starfighter - for the countless times I used to play it
Hawx - for making me remember how much fun Starfighter was :p
Rollercoaster Tycoon Series - for being amazingly new and innovative (At the time!).

Phew, that was a list.
How about you?

Fallout 3 - For being my favourite game, mainly for having what I think is the best, most immersive game world ever.

Mercenaries 2 - For proving that even a buggy, deeply flawed game can steal 50 hours of my time if it's fun enough.

Republic Commando - Wicked awesome squad based shooter, and it's STAR WARS! I mean, come on.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 - For having the best dialogue and plot I've ever experienced.

Ace Combat 6 - Showed me once and for all that a game can have absolutely terrible story, voice acting, and writing and still be fun.

Killing Floor- Costs less than L4D2, less pain from unnecessary sequels.
Half Life Series- Taught me that FPS's weren't all about space marines
Hexen- Not for the mind numbing backtracking, but for the happiness that came over me when I figured out the puzzles.
Starcraft/Warcraft- Best RTS's ever.
Bioshock- Mutants have never been this much fun.
Fallout 3- Mutants have never been this much fun to blow the legs off of.
Oblivion- Awesome scenery, instrumental music, and plot.
Garry's Mod- Fun doesn't have to come from games with predetermined goals.
Diablo 2- Best 3rd person RPG.

Lego Rock Raiders: I spent many hours as a kid playing this.
Holly shit I have that. Too bad no-one else I know has it.

OT: I always enjoyed Fable mainly because I didn't listen to Peter's massive hype before he released it.

Soulstorm also gets regular use because I believe it's one of the best RTS games out there. Also, before people start crying, no, I haven't played Starcraft.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I mean the Dawn of War series as a whole.

Ninja Warriors - You play robot ninja out to assassinate a "dictator" *cough*thepresident*cough*. I rented it once and still think about it.
Diddy Kong Racing - particularly the airplane parts, it just felt so liberating being able to fly like that.
Killer7 - there are no words.
Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction - again, being able to just "fly" around so freely (well jump)

Deus Ex- The premise and story were ahead of its time, and still leagues ahead of every game today.
Mass Effect- I have never been as emotionally invested in a game as I was with this one.
Morrowind- It stole hours of my life back in the day, and it still does.

Mario kart 64 - becuase that beats any normal racing game
tf2 - for me it has endless gameplay option such as the mods and maps, awesome balanced fighters, and the colour scheme just wins
Halo - what you said darthninja, execpt was probably my favourite game on the pc, shame its old, so there are less and less players every day.
bomberman 64 - because blowing stuff up with bombs never gets boring.
age of empires III - i never played II becuase i didnt have a pc, but still aoe III was epic. i never got bored of it, probably because it has overal 14 countries to play with.
super smash bros melee - this must be my most played game, me and my cousins enjoye this game so much. its the only fighter i know that if you smash buttons randomly you will fall off the edge.

honestly i could put a lot more up, but these are the oens that i can think of off the top of my head.

Halo, obviously.
Me too, for me there's just some kind of ambiance with the Halo series that resonates with me everytime I play it.

Same with Bioshock and Mass Effect as well, though mainly just the first two of each.

Alright, where to begin:

F.E.A.R.
Fire-fights done right, amazing A.I., horror suspense, visceral combat, superior voice acting to that of its sequel.

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
Large-scale RTS combat, especially even better when you use a trainer (oooooh!) to get rid of the population cap altogether (unless you're playing against a human opponent, in which case set the pop cap to 1000 and away you go). Also fun to play through the campaign with mods that add new units. I'm loving the Aeon Artemis, a strategic (read: nuclear) satellite.

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Another fun game to play with mods, especially in the campaign. Vanilla C&C3 is fine and dandy, but with mods is where this game really shines - in fact, with mods it's better than C&C3: Kane's Wrath.

Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun
Rest in peace, Commander Slavik.

Command & Conquer
Classic RTS I grew up with.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert
Still my favourite Red Alert to this day, although the RA2 Tanya was my favourite Tanya out of all of them.

Z
A perfect RTS. Simple and easy to learn, and hard to master.

World of Warcraft
Ultimately one of the best MMOs out there.

Crysis, Crysis: Warhead
Choose to go through each mission by way of stealthy measures or heavy fire-power. Despite what anyone else will say, this is more than just a tech demo. It's an amazing game, regardless of the storyline. Game-play is stellar.

Homeworld 2
Amazing 3D RTS combat. Incredibly calm voice acting gets a little grating but other than that, this game is literally perfect.

Painkiller
Because the stake launcher says so.

Duke Nukem 3D
I don't need to explain this one. It's just an example of a perfect FPS.

Half-life: Opposing Force
Seeing things from the perspective of Adrian Shepard this time around was refreshing. If the aliens are having a hard time against a scientist in a utility suit, they don't stand a chance against a freaking hardened and heavily-armed military specialist and his squad-mates.

Garry's Mod
It's just fun to mess around and make stuff.

Dawn of War: Dark Crusade
As much as I enjoy Soulstorm's two new factions, this one has a better campaign and I just love the banter between Commanders when you assault their, um, home regions.

Black & White
Fun god sim. I would spend hours just fiddling around with my subjects, expanding my villages and throwing things everywhere.

Starcraft: Brood War
Highly balanced. A game I still play to this day.

Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, Warcraft II: Beyond The Dark Portal
Classic RTS. I just can't ever seem to forget the units' voices, particularly those of the Footman, Knight/Paladin, Grunt, Peon, and the Death Knight. It's still quite fun to play even after all these years.

And that's my list.

Turrican II, for showing me what a platformer SHOULD be.

Quake II, for all the countless hours I played it and its mods (most particularly the first 3 levels, over and over and over because the Warehouse sucked).

Marathon series, for showing me an FPS could not only have a story, but a huge one.
Especially Marathon II, for introducing friendly bots and the feeling that you're no longer alone.

System Shock 2, for not only making me jump at small noises but for giving me the worst fear of low-polycount monsters since Alone in the Dark 1.

FEAR, for making me scared to go to the loo at 3am (hallucinations are great)

Grey Slayer, for scaring me more than any other game ever, despite the sub-par 2D graphics.

Strategy :
C&C Red Alert 3, it doesn't take itself seriously and its just over the top. It somehow managed to make me love the units because of their voices, especially the Soviet units.

FPS:
Battlefield: Bad Company, some of the most likeable characters with the best lines in a game. Destruction was good and the story was a refreshing change from the norm of WMDS or terrorists. This would have been BC2 but the story didn't follow from BC, what happened to the gold?

Racing:
Burnout: Revenge, highly satifying to smash other cars of the road at high speed.

Flying:
Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, I was one of the really good players in that tiny community.

RPG: Mass Effect, got me into the genre; had its flaws but was still fun and took a lot of my time trying to get the "completionist" achievement.

Sandbox:
Crackdown, to be honest, I bought it for the Halo 3 Beta but when I played it I realised what a gem of a game it was with a lot of hours spent dicking around with the traffic

Handheld:
Pokemon, really fun games with a few puzzles.
