I genuinely think doing that task killed me a little bit inside.

Thankfully, I am immune to achievements and trophies, due to long years in the MMO field.

However, I seldom do chase some of them, but only if they are extremely funny and not very grind-ey. I am also a completist, so I proceed in games very, very slowly, savoring and poking every nook and cranny.

Fallout 3: Took me between 600-700 hours of game time across 6 playthroughs before I had 100% of the achievements; Mill Worker and Alien Archivist took me an age to finally get. Still working up the courage to get the last one on New Vegas; hardcore playthrough... blergh...
same for fallout 3. However I got bored searching all the stell ingots and went online to get the location of the missing ones. Still enraged by the fact that you cannot return to some areas to get missing alien tapes. I HATE those kind of achivements and I cannot, for the life of me, convince myself to play Mothership Zeta again since i HATED that add-on.

Also, got 100% fable III [excluding online ones] but it was quite fast to get there (10~15h tops)?. Got all the achivements but had to use a guide to find most books and a couple of flowers because the games does not track how many you got (and mainly how many are missing and where - like it does for the gnomes).

WET: Got 100%. took me a few days to find all the monkeys/scorpions.

Borderlands: Got all achivments except 1 (the one you have to play online multiplayer to get). Took me days but I loved the game so most of the time I was simply replaying the game just for fun.

Batman: Arkham Asylum. First time, in my experience, an in game character has taunted me about completing the challenges in such a way that motivated me TO complete them as opposed to just irritating me. Plus, they were interesting puzzles that tested my knowledge of the Batverse.

I can see how it would but I would like to see a real cop trying to do this
"STOP POLICE OUT OF THE CAR!!!?
"Why officer?"
"I want to see if I have driven this model before"
"Oh ok then ....wait what?"

I spent about 220 hours on Pokemon FireRed getting the whole Pokedex and a balanced team of 6 level 100 legendary Pokemon. I had Lugia, Ho-oh, Mewtwo, Rayquaza, Groudon, Kyogre. With the moves I gave them, there was no type I didn't have an advantage over.

Also Just Cause 2. I've spent about 50 Hours and I'm only at 33%. It is easy to get sidetracked by blowing up cars though.

Hey guys I don?t know if you are like me but if you are you find yourself going through a game having to complete everything in it finishing every quest, collecting every key etc but which game for took the longest?
You think GTA4 took a long time to 100%?! That game was short compared to San Andreas or Vice City. Try 100%ing one of those, then we'll talk. Hell, just the story missions in San Andreas will last as long as 100% of gta4.
The only recent game that may have come close to as long to 100% (if there was such a stat for it) was Fallout 3...with all the dlc.

longest that I've actually done? probably Final Fantasy X. there is just SOOOOOO much boss grinding getting all of your attributes to 255. Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 were tedious, but I managed to do them with a guide over a few days. got all of GTA4 except those damn birds. Fucking birds. Mass Effect took me a longass time to 100%, although it COULD be done in as few as 3 games, although for the sake of your sanity, I suggest 5 - 3 for the 100% achievements, one with each main class for the weapon/tech/bio achievements, and then 1 quick Hardcore run and 1 quick Insanity run with your best class. Xmen Origins wolverine, I cheated on to get all the achievements, but honestly, I don't know how possible it is to get the Reflex achievement without cheating - you need to kill like, a million robots, robots are only on one level. Even with maxed Samurai power, and a cheat that doubles reflexes, you still need to play through that level 10 times to max it. It would have been an unholy MESS and horribly boring experience to max it without the cheat. Batman Arkham Asylum I got all of the riddles and all of the story-mode achievements. The only ones I was missing were the challenge ones, which I could have gotten, but didn't end up getting them because I ran out of time on the rental.

Assassin's Creed II on the xbox, I've got 100% on the playstation but for some reason cannot "sweep five guards at once" on the xbox!
When you find out how, let me know. Literally the only thing I have left to do in that game. Finding all the feather s left me traumatized.

Gears of War 2. It took me 3 years to get to Level 100 and Seriously 2.0. Admittedly this is mostly down to it being unplayable for somewhere in between TU2 and 3 as well as several EXP events but I finally got Vet Gear 2 weeks before GOW3 came out.

The new Pokemon Black/White. In order to 100% it you'd have to go through allllll your old games, catch alllll the Pokemon, transfer every single one of them to B/W in order to have a complete national dex. All for no gamerscore.

I was hideously unlucky with FF XIII concerning Trap farming. Those frigging Adaman's were having none of it. I must have ground out that Eden Plaza one about 200 times, all for one frigging trophy. There were times when I felt I'd ascended to a higher plane of existence due to the sheer amount of patience I'd developed from that.

Time to complete the game story- 45 hours give or take. Time to 100% it- 150, damn it!

Just Cause 2 takes an absolute age to 100%.

I haven't done it. I'm around 55% or something after nearly 100 hours of play.

To do it involves 100%ing each of the 350-odd settlements by destroying all government structures and finding all supply crates in each one; finding all the supply crates and destroying all the structures NOT in one of the settlements (scattered over 400 square miles, and there are literally thousands of them); finding all 300 faction items (at least a third of which are under what is often a hundred feet of water several miles from land); completing all the story missions and the dozens of faction side missions (which I have done, actually); and finishing all of the dozens of races, many of which are an absolute ***** to complete.

I just don't have the mentality to try and get a 100% on any game. If it takes more then 2-3 playthroughs I've already given up.
I've put 216 hours in FO:NV now, and still only have 56% completed on my second playthrough..

Too Human, getting the full 7-piece Epic Armour set. Gave up when I realised what I had wasted 30 hours trying to do (hint: nothing).

White Knight Chronicles - Darn you, farm&grind trophies!
Demon's Souls - This one explains itself.
Final Fantasy XIII - Yay! Trap farming!

I assume you've done the training outside Marrio's villa, then the best place to do this is outside the Doge's palace in Venice. Kill a guard to get a pike then make sure you havn't got a guard selected (left bumper) then press and hold B when the guards surround you, trust me you'll get there eventually!

And yes, the feathers had me in tears!
