I was surprised by how good republic commando was it was really good for a star wars title.
I must admit, that too took me by surprise... in a pleasant way! That was a wonderful game.

I played the demo for The Force Unleashed and was incredibly disappointed.

Also, Spore was the biggest technological let-down I've ever had.

I felt like Will Wright put a hat with a propellor on my head and gave me some mud to play with.

And then kicked me in the nuts (Two Syllables- SecuROM)
That's three syllables. But I agree. The overwhelming shittiness of Spore was definitely not what I expected.

Morrowind.. it was everything I could have hoped for... and more.

I have yet to find a fantasy RPG that lives up to it.

EDIT: Also the MGS series... I thought I'd hate it... but it turned out to be quite intriguing.

God Hand

I only bought it in the sale for 2 pounds, superb fun, really stupid but great to play and visceral.

I was suprised by what i got from call of juarez the "stealth" sections were terrible but the shooting sections were good ,although red dead revolver (with it`s legendary general diego level) was a better game

EDIT: i`m also unimpressed with the dishwasher it just gets less interesting as the game goes on still the most technically acomplished XNA game i`ve seen

Iron Man for Xbox360.
I just thought...come on, it's Iron Man, how can this go wrong.
Bad controls for one.
I didn`t think the controls were that bad to be fair having said that whoever decided to create the section with the missiles in the penultimate mission deserves nothing less than to have his face smashed through a brick wall

The first Fable suprised me in how amazing and charming it was compared to other games i had played.
Most negative suprise would have to be mass effect. Never understood why people thought it was so good.

I really liked 'Kane & Lynch' and didn't expect much.

And 'Condemned 1' was like Achievement unlocked: Mindfuck. Absolutely amazing piece of software it is!

assassins creed, its so repetitive i cant see how anyone could like it
(stories good though)
You mean the 5 minutes of story they give you at the end, that's actually good, and then they punch you in the face with the credits before any of this new development can be explained?

Dead rising was surprisinly mediocer
True.I was expecting alot more from it than was actually there. And that bit with the convicts made me increadibly angry. why expect me to shoot at people in a jeep when the aiming system is as responsive as a spastic covered in superglue
