Most recent example: Journey. When you're floating like a feather towards the light = Fucking golden moment right there.

Older example: Persona 3 or 4.

Both had me tearing up like a tiny-baby man. But if I had to pick a better ending MOMENT, it would go to P3. That final fight against Nyx is so epic. But P4's final boss had a much greater impact emotionally.

So I think both are on pretty equal grounds there.

Katawa Shoujo had me crying at the credits, then i just stared at the menu listening to the music for like an hour.

Nah, it's "Game Endings That Had An Emotional Impact". I believe we had this one 2 weeks ago.

And for me, that game would be the first Kingdom Hearts. Cried like a baby with a diaper rash at the end. Hearing Simple and Clean still makes my eyes mist up many years later. Doesn't help that they play it at least once in almost all of the games.

I was clapping at the end of both mgs3 and mgs4, even rising to give mgs4 a standing ovation...before sitting back down and thinking what a tool I am....

If there's anybody who knows how to end a game well, its hideo kojima. take notes casey hudson

For me recently it was Xenoblade Chronicles, I mean the end scene just blew my mind and then the credits started rolling.
Also when I was younger finishing any game was a huge satisfaction as I am not the best gamer there is :p

First time I beat Suikoden 2.
And then later learning that there were multiple endings.

For me, a game that left me in awe would be Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille Zur Macht, my jaw hit the floor at simply the way it ended. As for something else, like tears, Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra. I'm almost certain I was depressed for like three days after beating it.
Wilhelm's a dick, ain't he?

The original ending of Mass Effect 3. It was quite awe-full.

Seriously, though, there has been only one ending I can think of that actually made a big impact on me. And I know I will get hate for it. I'm not saying this is the only ending that I thought was good. I've liked a lot of endings. But only one ending has left me emotionally invested to the point of tears running down my face.

That ending...is Final Fantasy X. Yes, I am admitting it now. I cried at the ending of Final Fantasy X.

Journey and Spec Ops: The Line both did that for me...I suppose Portal 2 did as well. All brilliant games.

Journey most recently. Walking into that light. I imagine that's what facing death might feel like.

Bastion because when you carry Zulf through the onslaught of enemies you just never see a game that handles enemies like that. Even on my second playthrough i just couldnt stand leaving Zulf, that ending is just too great. I still have yet to see the option of just smashing through. The restoration ending and evacuation endings are both great but carrying Zulf is just too great.

Kingdom Hearts (any of them really, all the endings were really good... well, I haven't played Chain of Memories or Coded, but other than that :p)

Gears of War 3 actually had a very good endíng in my opinion, but I also kinda really liked the story in those games so I suppose I just have no taste

Half-Life 2: Episode 2. Just... Wow!

Mass Effect (Escpecially M4 Part II by The Faunts, kickass song) and Mass Effect 2, haven't tried the EC yet but I'm one of the people who didn't mind the ending too much except for the lack of closure, so we'll see how I feel when I get around to playing it again.

Journey, helped alot that I only met one player through the entire game and we stuck together to the very end, and we actually walked into the light together.

AC Revelations. Actually seeing the finale for Ezios story was awesome, and it was such a good ending too.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time really got to me back when I was just a kid of 12 years, I really hoped for a happy ending but it just didn't happen.

I think those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Half Life 2 ending. That was my first full-synchronization with Freeman since we were both speechless

Thumbs up to Mass Effect, with Shepard strutting off to that epic piece of music after saying he'll still find a way to defeat the Reapers.
The Normandy flying round with Shepard's heroic pose, my fucking lord was - it is - amazing.

Halo: Reach.

As soon as the ending came up I was like "Oh shit...."
Same for me, kinda... The idea of the ending level sent shivers down my spine, but that epilogue at the end with the woman talking pulled me out of the moment and made me shit myself in disgust.

When you died, it should have just rolled to credits. That would have been a much better ending than force feeding the player something they already know with some jingoist propaganda nonsense

Silent Hill 2. It wasn't so much the last cutscene that did it, but the labyrinth onward. So much happened there that it completely changed that from a pretty good game to an amazing game.

Then, as far as actual endings go, Metal Gear Solid 3 just shook my world. I never knew a game could do those things until I played MGS3. I never knew a game could move you so much. Then, of course, the end credits music.

Which Path/ending? I was gonna say that my first path (Hanako) completely floored me at the ending, I sat speechless for about 10 minutes after I had finished it.

Metal Gear Solid 3 - One of the best endings to any game, the image of Big Boss standing over the grave is one of my favourite images in gaming.

Metal Gear Solid 1 - The Best Is Yet To Come... Those feels!

Mass Effect 1 - The entire ending sequence was awesome and the ending credits song (M4 (Part II) by Faunts) suits the game so well that it gave my shivers throughout the ending.
