Games That Look Incredibly Dull To Play

This is not a thread about games you play yourself, but ones you watch from an outsider's perspective. I'm currently watching SuperJeenius' Lets Play of Persona 4: Golden, for example, and what jumps out at me is that the turn based combat just looks SO FUCKING BORING! See I like Xcom: EU/EW because if I'm on a roll in the single player missions the game moves rather quick and if a roadblock pops up I can stop and take stock of the situation before making a decision. P4, by contrast, seems to have stop and take stock down but never gets to the "on a roll" quick part. This appears to be a result of the game being very keen to stomp you into the dirt if you don't micro-manage absolutely fucking everything your party does and it gets really boring, really fast. That is not even mentioning just how long the bosses take to down. Four-thousand hp drained one-hundred a hit, is not something that appeals to me and makes me have unpleasant flashbacks to Daimon's second form from Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.

I think I've blubbed enough, so do you guys have any examples?

(I am not bad mouthing people that like Persona 4, I am an outsider looking in after all, so don't take it bad.)

Though I can't speak from experience, but when I showed off Child of Eden once at a video game club, most of the people who saw it didn't find it all that interesting... (I guess they were waiting for something to happen besides the "lady" popping up in the background?)

Then again, I almost had that same feeling looking at other people play Sonic '06... Then, I bought the game (prior to Game Grumps existing) and played it to completion twice... (Take that as you will, I guess...)

I guess like DOTA or League. For someone just passing by it must look really strange.

"Hold on mother, I need to last hit these 5 minions, walk around in circles for a bit then last hit again. It's really fun I promise"

I have to say, the way the commentators in the pro tourneys can keep both teams AFK farming entertaining is beyond amazing.

Any kind of game streaming and 'Let's play' beyond the first one or two parts. I'd rather just play the game myself, by myself (I don't really like multi-player or pvp).

(CAPTCHA - I like you!)

I thought League of Legends looked boring to play. I was right. Played for about 3 hours to give it a fair chance, hated every minute of it. But it was free, so I don't feel quite as ripped off as another boring game that I did buy: How to Survive. This game I tracked on Steam for awhile. It looked like it promised a lot: Same computer co-op, amazing crafting, great survival elements, and slaying of zombie hordes. Turned out to be the most boring zombie game I ever played.

They all look so boring I don't understand how people can play them.
That, and I might as well get double the hate by naming the Monster Hunter Games. I pretty much have the same problem with them Yahtzee has

OK Drum, breathe deeply. In... out... in... out...

That's good, suppress the rage.

Remember people have different tastes. Different tastes. Not everyone loves Persona as much as you, and that's perfectly fine.

OT: Modern military shooters in general I find boring to watch/play. I used to enjoy them but I grew tired of that formula after Modern Warfare 2.

Dark Souls is tons of fun to play, but to an outside observer, it can seem very dull due to its slower, more deliberate pacing.

Harvest Moon. I'm just... not into farming. Take that as you will.
Not into FARMING, you say?!

Um...I guess those really fussy simulations of things, like planes and trains and...planes. The ones with like 7,000 instruments. I guess I can appreciate how a crazy hobbyist would just absolutely lose their mind for that, but I'm not that hobbyist.

Civilization 5. You just look at it and think, "Wow, nothing is happening at all, it must be really boring." Then you play it and next you know its three in the afternoon two days later.

Dragon's Dogma. I love me some fantasy games, I love adventure games, I love RPGs, but even with my love for all those things, Dragon's Dogma just seems so.... generic.

Although reviews apparently say otherwise, Ryse looks like (again generic) and a QTE fest.

I'm at the point pretty much, if it has elves and dwarves in it, but doesn't take place on Middle Earth, I lose interest. I will however, still tolerate elf and dwarf-like races, as long as the creators tried something, anything to make them different.

Also in reverse...

Marvel VS Capcom 3 looked really fun, Amaterasu vs Deadpool, what's not to love? I played it, found it to be a carpal tunnel inducing snooze-fest with not enough variation in dialogue.

Persona (Please don't hate me!), I love Shin Megami Tensei, but there's just to much micromanaging in Persona.

It's probably a cliche to say at this point, but every time I see a FPS game (especially a modern military one) I start thinking "Circle strafe, headshot, take cover, heal, repeat." Is this all you can do with the genre? Oh, I could press a button and have a drone strike or whatever do all the work for me and get me less involved?

DayZ and the like. I know people really seem to like playing them and it's probably fun once you absorb the atmosphere and really get into it but watching the game it looks boring as all fuck.

I've actually had friends tell me that The Last of Us's gameplay looks boring. Doesn't work the same way when playing it however...

Tetris looks pretty dull to watch.

So does XCOM, I was watching an Angry Joes Vs Someone video and the footage itself was pretty dull.

I've tried watching videos of Eve Online and they really dull to watch

Pretty much any FPS that sells itself entirely on the multiplayer experience. Or anything in the EA sports lineup.

The prior mainly because I'm not overly fond of point and click FPS games to begin with but removing any character, story or context for why I'm playing Shooty McGunnerpants in the first place just doesn't appeal to me.

Add to the mix the fact that those games heavily favor the early adopter and I just don't have the time or energy to be bothered.

Also internet tuff guys...No thanks.

The latter. I guess sports games just never really managed to float my boat. I couldn't get into Techmo Bowl or Double Dribble back in my youth and I can't muster much give-a-shit about the newer sports games either.

Though I did kinda like Sega Soccer Slam, make of that what you will.
