When Gavin Archer says "30.1", I tend to tear up a little. Whoever writes the missions for Mass Effect is surprisingly fond of the "Science is Bad" trope, and was anvilicious as hell in that scene, but they know how to pull the heart strings, even if you think their message is based on false preconceptions.

Kane and Lynch 2...

Dear God, I can still remember the sheer pointless agony of sitting watching my life and money waste away thanks to seemingly endless battles against the AS (Artificial Stupidity) and a total wipe of my hard drive thanks to that opengl driver update... (sniff)

I cried at the end of FFX.
Also the end of MGS4, I haven't played any of the other MGS games, but I thought it was really well made.

Another time was not tears of sadness, but tears of HATE when I played Dark Sector, it sucked so much that after an hour of playing I took the disk out and decided to use it as a coaster for my coffee mug.
I saw that game new for $9.99 and couldn't believe it was so CHEAP! Being cautious, I got the demo to make sure it was $9.99 out of the goodness of the store's heart rather than because it was crap.
I don't think I quite made it through an hour before shutting it off, deleting the demo, and never thinking about buying it again.

Red Dead Redemption got me. LA Noire, on the other hand, very nearly convinced me to email Rockstar to tell them to stop fucking doing that.

Yeah, it was awesome the first time I saw it, the second time when I actually knew what the words meant it was really moving.
What do they mean? I never thought to look it up or anything.

I'm going to be that one guy who adamantly denies crying over a video game, and it's true. I've felt the emotion of the game, wether it be the sadness or anger, but it never fully manifested withing me as tears. The closest I ever got to this that I recall was in InFamous when Kessler put Cole through the old "Choose who lives, but I know who you pick so you don't win either way" bit. When Cole talked about finding that sick bastard I flexed my arm, glaring and snarling at the tv like "Fuck yes I will, and I'll fry him up extra crispy too!"

Valkyria Chronicles really made me tear up when
Isara died, but I really started to lose it when Rose started singing.
Now, I can never hear that song without setting off a reaction. lol
lol me too! Up to that point, I thought I was playing this lighthearted take on war where nothing really bad happens, and boom. Awesome game, I really, really wish more people had played it.

I can't think of a game that had something on an emotional level like that. I mean, I've had movies and TV Shows (generally finales) that made me teary-eyed; however, no video game just yet. Metal Gear Solid 4 was pretty close; though.

I've seriously never cried at a game and find that really weird as it seems to be normal for at least ONE game to make you cry many tears. Not even the Metal Gear Solid series. Am I broken?

Final Fantasy X was hard to finish and so was Crisis Core. Square can really be hit or miss.

Heavy Rain had some pretty powerful moments too.

I'd have to say that the end of Minecraft was pretty tear jerking.

OT: Shadow of the Colossus's end was pretty bad:
A group of people find the city and notice that you have been used by the guy that speaks to you. You then turn into a zombie, to result in getting stabbed in fear by the people.
This doesn't quite kill you, you turn into a colossus that has only one aim, kill the people that killed you. The technique here is amazing, it allows you to experience what all the other Collossi did, and to alsmost empathise with them. They were only doing what they thought was best

What do they mean? I never thought to look it up or anything.
Here is the actual lyrics to the song.

Cara bella, cara mia bella!
Mia bambina, o ciel! [pun: Chell = It. "Ciel" = Sky"]
Ché la stimo...
Ché la stimo.
O cara mia, addio!

La mia bambina cara,
perché non passi lontana?
Sì, lontana da Scïenza, [personified]
cara, cara mia bambina?
Ah, mia bella!
Ah, mia cara!
Ah, mia cara!
Ah, mia bambina!
O cara, cara mia...

Here is the translation:
Dear beautiful, my beautiful darling!
My child, oh Chell! [pun: "oh heavens!"]
For I hold her in esteem...
For I hold her in esteem.
Farewell to my dear!

My dear girl,
why do you not walk away?
Yes, away from Science,
my dear, my dear girl?
Ah, my beautiful!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my child!
Oh dear, my dear...

If you play the game fully and understand most of it, a lot of this can evolve into theories.

I actually cried when in FF7 that love interest girl dies.

Sorry guys. I still think that the FF games are awesome.
........ =_= really? i just got finished explaining to someone why everything about the FF series sucks. all of those characters are cut and paste shallow anime characters with anime reactions to everything.

go try Mafia 2 when joe's kid friend dies.
Haha don't worry! We all have different tastes, and I'm happy that it is so.
I happen to like anime characters, and think that the vast majority of western games (and the characters within) are bland and boring, with some shining exceptions of course. But I kinda dislike western games so I will probably not try it.

All respect to you though, and a toast for different tastes! *sip*

The ending narrations of Dynasty Warriors 5 were brilliantly done and brought a tear to my eye when I first saw them.

The narrators voice, theway he delivers the lines, the music, the atmosphere and the way it ends are all just done so well.

If only they worked more on character pronunciation.

Yeah. I remember not accepting her death for days, while looking everywhere for a way to get her back and generally not caring about the story or the other characters very much.

Probably the best role playing I've ever done in a game ever. *group hug*
Yeah. I, too, was obsessed with bringing her back. I believed every rumor (I had no internet back then) and have even dreamed of a possibility to revive her while I was on vacation (in Sweden btw) not being able to try out my idea :D

FF VII was my first RPG and still is one of my favorites^^
