Kingdom Hearts 3D is why I have my 3DS. Along with all the other games that are coming to it. I think Kirby Canvas Curse is what sold me on the original DS.

I think I got my PSP because of Daxter. It's a 1000 model, so I don't think Birth by Sleep was a factor. But it definitely would have been. I don't really have a reason to get a Vita, but I'm sure some will show up. Eventually.

I have my PS3 because of one part brand loyalty (I grew up on the first two), one part Naughty Dog/Insomniac/Sucker Punch and one part Kingdom Hearts III.

Well recently that was Guild Wars 2 and it was worth it! In saying so I needed a new pc anyway as my old one was slow as hell (take ages to load up) but my current PC was built to handle GW2 with ease.
Other than that it was Pokemon Diamond. I didn't buy the Nintendo DS straight away despite I did so with the previous handheld console. Sure I had money problem but I usually get it anyway but that time was different as there was no must have game for me to buy the console for until Poekmon Diamond came out.

I have to find reasons to buy Nintendo's hardware these days.

3DS I bought for any up coming pokemon instalments, also partly for the ocarina of time remake. I am now pleased to have it because of Resi Revaluations they are also making another resi 3ds game (not the mercenaries 3d a new one) so I will get that too.

I got a wii because I really wanted to play Resi 4 and twilight princess.

I bought a hot pink PS2 for a number of reasons like FF and Silent hill and old Resi games etc.

Crysis 3 will cause me to snag a gtx 660/70. Halo 4 might cause me to plug in a flash drive on my xbox to fix an update issue.(but honestly I'd rather just drop 400 bucks than fuss with that)

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I got a psx to play symphony of the night, I got a dream cast to play Sword of the berserk, I got windows 7 and a new graphics card to play battlefield 3 before I knew about the whole origin and no back end thing.

I just update (Build from scratch) my PC every 6 to 7 years out of habit and that keeps me going in any game worth playing. The closest thing I experience is updating a component due to failure. In a way I do this so that I can play PC games at all.

The last game that made me buy something was SimCity for the SNES.

I don't think any of my hardware buys since then have been motivated by any particular game. I could be wrong though.

I did however buy a used Mac laptop off ebay ~5 years ago solely to learn about and experience OSX for myself. I'm geeky like that.

Looking forward to building my own Desktop, for consoles: Super Smash Bros Brawl for Wii is hilariously amazing.

I had to decided between the Genesis/Mega-drive or SNES. Both had games I wanted but what convinced me to get a SNES was Street Fight 2!

In the end its been one of my favourite gaming experiences with Zelda: ALTTP, Super Mario World, Super Castlevania, Mortal Kombat 2 and Secret of Mana being some of my all time favourite games.

I am going to buy a WiiU the minute they announce a release date for Smash Bros. That is if the rumors of it being only 200 dollars prove to be false. But I have never bought a console before because of a single game (Hell, I have never even bought a console for myself).

The system sellers for me:

PSVita - Mortal Kombat (I skept the current gen of consoles.)
Current PC - Portal 2
XBox - DOA (XBV and 3) & Ninja Gaiden

The Kingdom Hearts series is particularly bad at this. If you played all of the games when they first launched, you would have needed a PS2, a GBA, a DS, a PSP, a mobile phone compatible with the game they put out, and a 3DS. Now they've ported the GBA game to the PS2 and I think the same with the mobile game, and you can play the DS game on the 3DS, but still. That is a ridiculous number of consoles to keep up with a franchise as young as Kingdom Hearts (yes I realize it's about 10 years old, but when was the last time you saw a franchise that requires 6 consoles in 10 years?).

But because I still love the series, I will be buying a 3DS as soon as I start earning some money from my new job.
This, and Kingdom Hearts 3 will influence which console I buy next generation.

I really want a Wii U for the next Zelda game, but if KH3 isn't coming out on the Wii U I'm probably going to have to pass, unfortunately.

I've logged over 200 hours on all the KH games combined, I can't turn my back on the series for the finale of the Xehanort trilogy (lol trilogy, 8 games) or "saga" would be more apt.

I just need to know what happens.

3D was surprisingly uninteresting compared to the other games. Thenagain I played BBS after 3D, but there's so much retconning and... eh

Anyway... no wall of text for me today. I could go on and on and on and on about Kingdom Hearts.

Well, I sorta got the Xbox I own naturally. I used to use my crappy laptop for gaming but saved up my munnies for an Xbox 360 because my laptop no longer played shit. In the forseeable future though I'm going to purchase a PS3 (for The Last of Us) and a PC (for pretty much everything else).

I bought a PSP for Dissidia, and a new computer to play, well, everything that came out in the past 5 years.
