Personally, Persona 4.

In all honesty, I have never played a game that so effectively made me CARE about the characters.

I mean, I KNOW they were just characters in a game, but by the end, it felt like I had made a bunch of new friends... and it was heartbreaking to have to say goodbye.

My second favorite RPG ever.

Heavy Rain.
The part after Ethan's(can't spell tonight) son dies and then it skips ahead to where he is picking up his son from his ex-wife's house and he son almost completely ignores him and Ethan looks so depressed and then he does to his small house with his son and....I can't keep writing, I feel like I'm going to cry
the entire game is very moving, but the part that really got me was when he sits down in his abandoned office and watches the video of him and his sons in the backyard. tears.
The game's story makes up for its use of only QTEs.

Dragon Age: Origins, specifically Leilana. She's sweet and I didn't want anything to happen to her, the red hair, the accent...good lord.

it's technically not a game, it's an interactive drama experience! any actual skill required would ruin that!

Mass Effect 2 at the very start. And indeed throughout as I moved uptowards that huge final battle.

Fable III with regard to Major Swift and separately, the culmination of the storyline.

PS: Who voiced Major Swift?

The game that moved me was Fable 2. I know that sounds weird, but I got emotionally invested in the characters. The first time I played, I was a selfless saint, got married, played with my two children, etc. By the end of the game, i was a withered old man who had sacrificed everything to save a hollow unthankful people. My family was dead, MY DOG WAS DEAD!!!!, and I was left completely alone with no purpose, nothing to do nowhere to go, and a note that said "I owe you."

It made me sad.

Metal Gear Solids 2 through 4. The fist one's story didn't really do it for me but every successive entry in the series ended in one of those man-cry moments (especially 3 and 4).

The end of Red Dead Redemption. That was obviously reallyreally sad, but the final (Nurture or Nature) mission made me think.
Dom finding Maria in Gears 2 was intense.
Mass Effect 2, finding Kaidan on Horizon again. I was all excited for the mushy reunion, then he was just a doucher and it made me so mad.
Fallout 3.
Fallout New Vegas. Just...everything.
Dragon Age: Origins in several different situations. Usually at the end with the archdemon.

The ending to GTA IV: The Lost and Damned left me quite depressed, I wanted to shed a manly tear to be honest :/ .
Also the ending to Saints Row 2...before you throw that boot, just hear me out, I get quite depressed whenever I finish an open-ended game, especially when you are allowed to carry on after the end, it's just that after you finish the game, there is no more interaction between main characters (Essentially.) and very little left to do lore/story wise apart from side missions, and hoping for the next game to come out.
Which Is why I found the ending to SR2 quite sad, 'The Boss' pretty much owns the city, and hell, the journey to take it was quite an epic one, so it's sad to see all of that gone for...almost nothing when playing after end-game.

Call of Duty: World at War.

When, after over a year, I finally...

...completed it on veteran, passed all the grenade spamming AI and lifted that well earned flag over Berlin.

Tears of happiness :)

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
When Kanes wife was killed I atcually felt anger at his killer, which made it all the sweeter when you bash his skull in with a shovel!

The last level of Halo Reach came close for me.

Heavy Rain, most defiantly. In many scenes (mainly the trials), I truly felt like Ethan's life was at stake and I really didn't want to fuck up because then his son would have died. :( Most tense and exciting moment in my gaming history are found in that game.

Ahh no idea how to add spoilers, someone help me out please?

Multiple times I nearly cried. At the start when I was helping my kid out with homework and Ethan sat down next to him, and the piano kicked in. That little song always makes me feel sad in combination with that game.

Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXIgzZHifqk

I actually did cry when I was near the end. As Jayden I was trying to solve the crime in ARI. I thought I had all the time in the world, but then his eyes started to bleed. I couldn't manage to solve it in time and I had to painfully watch Jayden slowly die before me. I was so stunned when he died that I was paralysed for several seconds. I then shut the PS3 off in a hope of replaying it so he wouldn't die but it had already saved.

Tag...duh.

I actually thought Mass Effect 2 was moving. I genuinely cared about my crew and did not want to see any of them die. My favorite crew member, Mordin Solus, was the only one who did and this bummed me out big time. I was shocked that a video game could strike such a deep emotion in me.
Knew someone would mention Mass Effect. I agree. I felt so... close to Tali during the romance subplot, it kind of creeped me out. Still does, in fact.

I played the second game first, so I had the plot spoiled for me. Nonetheless, I got chills when speaking with Sovereign, and genuinely felt sorry for Saren.

Very, very moving game.

I'd have to say Mass Effect. The ending of that game was really moving. Between Sheppard knowing he was going into harms way, having one last quiet moment with Ashley and then Joker going full throttle into the Reaper. It was an epic finish to a great game.
