populous: the beggining
you start off with a tiny tribe and the shaman who is trying to become a god and must face against all odds of the other tribes who are generally bigger, more powerful and have better spells than you, plus the gameplay is solid. i pretty much love the game!
and as many others have said, baldurs gate series, possibly the definitive RPG of all time
