Not too long ago, I was browsing Abandonia (a website devoted to providing downloads for abandonware games) to see if there was anything interesting to play when I stumbled across an old run-and-gun platforming game called "ABUSE". With a mix of curiosity and interest, I downloaded it and started playing. It was beyond fun, to say the least.
After a bit, I stopped playing and looked it up on google to see if there were any sequels. Sadly, the company (founded by one of the guys who made Doom) went out of business after their second release. I was moderately dissapointed. I would've really liked to see the continued adventures of Nick Vrenna, a character who's essentially the lovechild of Samus Aran and the Doom Marine whose been fitted with cheetah legs and is probably wired up to an indefinite supply of Rockstar Energy Drinks. There's a lot of places you could go with such a fun character. But alas, no such sequel.
What other games really deserve sequels but have been forgotten?

Balloon Fight. A remake for 3DS would be perfect. It's got that great kind of simple, addictive gameplay that works so well as a portable title. Add Miis and maybe a level editor and BAM! Instant awesome

3D Dot Game Heroes should also get a sequel. Was pretty niche but apparently it sold better than the developers thought, so...

Mirrors Fucking Edge. The original wasn't perfect, but it was still a great idea and a very cool world.

Star Wars Republic Commando.

There's so much potential for a great story set after Order 66, plus the improvements to the already solid gameplay.

Not to mention I really want to know what happened to Sev.

I would also love a Dynasty Tactics 3.

That series had so much potential.

Dragons Dogma. That game was so amazing. I dont see why it hasnt gotten a sequel yet! Im still playing the first, and its the only game ive played for what feels like... forever!

Oh wait....
I think Baldur's Gate 2 needed a sequel. I dont see why they havent made one yet. Wait, i got it, use the Diablo 3 engine, and make Baldur's Gate 3 on it! Say what you will about the game itself, but the engine it runs in is pretty sexy!

Jade Empire

A fantasy RPG set in medieval China. It's a shame the game was so short; I really wanted to explore that world some more. It certainly made a nice break from the endless varieties of Middle Earth.

A Pokémon Snap sequel would have been perfect for Wii. I loved that game as a kid, and I still do.

Imagine: updated list of Pokémon! New places! New things to see! Improved graphics!

Deus Ex

It got a prequel but they never made a sequel, what a shame.
Well... They did, but that didn't turn out so well. But I agree, a real sequel to Deus Ex would be incredible. I think everyone who worked on Human Revolution have proved themselves to be capable of continuing the franchise.

SYSTEM SHOCK. System Shock 3 needs to be made! But sadly, from what I heard the reason why EA can't sell System Shock 2 (Whether it's on Steam or GoG) in response to all the online petitions and such is because (don't ask me how) some insurance company has the rights to it. Same reason why System Shock 3 can't be made and perhaps why they had to resort to Bioshock. Which is still a good game, but System Shock 2 was always superior in everything but graphics.

In terms of games that need one and most definitely won't get one, I'd say Spore. There was a lot of things to be improved on in that game.

Glad somebody else thought this. I would love to see a sequel to this, I loved the game, the setting, the imagery and the fact that you could play an entire game without actually having to shoot anyone!

Disruptor, a really good FPS on the playstation. I think it may have actually invented dual wielding in FPSs since you could select a gun and a psionic ability and fire them off at the same time.

It was Insomniac's first game, and I remember grimacing when I read that their next game would be Spyro rather than a sequel. One of these days I'll have to get a PS3 and check out Resistance - it's surprising how much the footage I've seen of that game feels like an updated Disruptor - even the music.

I understand. I feel the same way when people claim that there was a third Mad Max movie.

But they had invisible War- Wait a minute, I see what's going on here; gamer denial. I understand.
