Games that really should have sequels but don't

Perhaps it's dated past relevancy, but a sequel or something close enough needs to be afforded to Vagrant Story. It takes place in Ivalice (of FF fame) so it wouldn't be too hard to have a reason for a revisit or whatever.

Alpha Protocol. Fantastic concept (spy RPG), the best dialogue system I've ever seen, overall a great game buried under shortsighted reviews.

Ya know how Dynasty Warriors has been getting anime-inspired spin off games like the 3 Gundam ones and the one Fist of the North Star one? I mentioned this offhand in another thread and the more I think about it the more I want a Dynasty Warriors: Berserk (or is it BASTARD?) Not a sequel but still.

As for an actual sequel I want to see, Whacked! Whacked was an Xbox exclusive game made up of several mini-games and game modes such as death-match, collecting stars, killing chickens, king of the hill, etc. The game's framing device is that you are one of 8 characters participating in a game show. Some would call it a Mario Party rip-off...but the thing is the characters made it awesome. The characters being a narcoleptic riding a sentient recliner, a psychotic rabbit with no feet, an obsessive compulsive penguin who can't fly and, a nude woman to name a few. The host of the show Van Tastic however, is my favorite character because of how much of a dick he is (there's also a great plot-twist at the end featuring him). I would have loved another Whacked game but it would have had to have a new cast of playable characters. Call it Whacked Season 2 or something. Another great thing about Whacked are the commercials:

I'm pretty sure that's all of them too...One more thing...it's an Xbox exclusive! Not too many exclusives outside of Nintendo these days...just saying.

I'm just saying there were only 2 games ever made. Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It would be nice if they made a sequel, that's all.
Erm...

Whether or not it's a good sequel is open to debate, but it does exist.

Deus Ex

It got a prequel but they never made a sequel, what a shame.
Well... They did, but that didn't turn out so well. But I agree, a real sequel to Deus Ex would be incredible. I think everyone who worked on Human Revolution have proved themselves to be capable of continuing the franchise.
As long as they take out shitty boss fights and terrible endings.

ZOMFG ABUSE!!?!!!?

I LOVED that game in the 90's... actually, I'm going to go play it again now...

Pity Crack dot com got taken down... oh well, mind you, a sequel to that today would probably be more horrible than.... uhhh.... well, it'd be like every other "mutants taking over the world" shooter... certainly wouldn't be 2D anyway...

OT: Psychonauts... although it might happen one day... I can still dream...

Well, yeah. But they obviously figured that out eventually.

Metal Arms! That was/is a really good game in my opinion. Of course not perfect.... but its story and humor were pretty solid.

Blade Kitten.

In that they made part 2, but Atari didn't think it was worth publishing. Want to see how it ends, though the end of part 1 was disappointing and the cliffhanger wasn't great.

Alpha Protocol 2. Actually, I think it'd be better to call it Beta Protocol.

Really, Alpha Protocol was a great game in terms of concept and innovation: A modern-day espionage RPG with a real-time dialogue system and missions that actually are affected by choices you make in previous ones.

But if there is a sequel, it needs more character customization. At the very least, it should allow a choice of sex. That and they shouldn't create such an obvious target for love interest. When I had the option to sleep with Scarlet, I chose not to take it. Out of spite.

Well, that and Yahtzee had pointed out that there's a bug when you take the opportunity. That's another thing for Beta Protocol. Be thorough with debugging.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance

There are a few loose ends to tie up in the story and a potential metric shitload of epicness to be had. Sadly, I don't think it would ever happen. There is a reboot in the works (maybe) but that's not the same, now is it.

Also, a sequel in the Might and Magic line. There were 8 games and all of them were good, then 3DO blew up. I hope Ubisoft finally get around to doing another RPG there, it has lots of potential and for Ubisoft being so, well, Ubisoft, they have shown that the license is in relatively good hands - they have some fun games out of it.

I see what you did there. People make up articles all the time on wikipedia, it's clearly a joke article.

Now if you'll excuse me I'll have to leave this thread.

So apparently the Deus Ex fandom treats Invisible War the same way Trekkies treat Star Trek V.

I can named a few
Phantom Crash- Sure it had a bad case of Engrish but it was still a well solid game for its time. The sequel would of had online multiplayer and being able to play music you store inside your 360.
Gotcha Force 2. Such an underrated game for the Gamecube especially when it's one of the better looking game on it.
Star Wars: Republic Commando- When the hell are they ever going to explain what happen to Sev. As far as I know there is no other media that explain to his whereabout when he got kidnapped.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

Sooo much potential for that series... squandered on TOO HUMAN of all fucking things. It's my sincere hope that whoever's responsible for that horseshit still gets spit on in public.

Mirrors Fucking Edge. The original wasn't perfect, but it was still a great idea and a very cool world.

captcha - forbidden fruit. Damn!
Glad somebody else thought this. I would love to see a sequel to this, I loved the game, the setting, the imagery and the fact that you could play an entire game without actually having to shoot anyone!
I say this every time a thread like this comes up. Mirrors Edge NEEDS a sequel.
Yes. Oh God, yes. I've heard rumours here and there that DICE may be thinking about a sequel, and I hope to high heaven they're true. It's one of EA's last truly original IPs, and a sequel that polished up the flaws of the original would be amazing.

The World Ends With You really deserves a sequel, too. One of the most original and entertaining ideas I've seen for a game, and with one hell of an art style and soundtrack to boot.
