mirrors edge. I REALLY liked the first, and apparently I am alone with this opinion, but i would like to see another with the technical issues worked out.

My usual answer to this:

Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magicks Obscura. That game could be glorious remade with modern technology and gaming sensibilities (and regular patching to work the bugs out :p)
Oh my god, I thought I was the only one who ever played that. I LOVED that game, my favorite RPG of all time!

O.P.
mirrors edge. I REALLY liked the first, and apparently I am alone with this opinion, but i would like to see another with the technical issues worked out.
i loved arcanum. such a great story that was constantly twisting. i just wish it was a little more balanced. focusing in guns definitely made the game harder but was totally worth it to see my little dwarf, decked in full plate armor, sniping orcs

*may contain spoilers*
mirrors edge was the video game equivalent of catcher in the rye, for me. while i was playing it, i couldnt stand it and was just like "ive come this far i might as well finish it but this game is pissing me off so much!" then after it was finished i was like "wow, that was a really good game. it was very frustrating for me, maybe because i refused to use any weapons so the scenes near the end, where you were in a room filled with heavily armed cops, had me dying a lot because id be taking them out with my hands or using counters. i would love a sequel and the way it ended, its not too far fetched

They did: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/angry-video-screwattack/100758 cut to 6:44 for the sequel.

OT: Beyond Good and Evil, you can't end with such a blatant cliffhanger and not make a sequel.

Kirby Air Ride.

If that game was a Drug then one dose would be all you needed to get high for the rest of your life.

Air Ride was fun.
Top Ride was fun.
City Trial was the most fun iv ever had ever.

Id love to see a new one with Multiplayer for Air Ride and City Trial.

Think about it, City Trial with up to 8 other people, all fighting for items and the events.

In before Psychonauts.
Even though I think Tim Schaefer is great, I'm not sure how they could do a sequel as good as the first.

Its one of those occaisions where it stands perfectly well on its own feet. Even though they left the ending open for a sequel, I really don't know how they could pull off the concept again.

I mean, even things like "how many more mental illnesses could they do?". I mean, they have done OCD (Edgar), split personality (Fred Bonaparte), manic depression (Bonita Soleil), paranoia (the Milkman), pent-up emotions (Sasha), I can't see how a sequel could be that inventive again.

I think Schaefer would be far better off doing something completely new.
This is how I feel about most sequels or spiritual successors (Bioshock sucked compared to SS2). Sequels, especially ones to older games are usually disappointing (NOLF2 and JA2 being exceptions of course). Instead I'd like more HD remakes. Using the same voice acting and sound effects where possible. System Shock 1 and 2, Psychonauts, the upcoming Beyond Good and Evil we should be getting these great games without fucking them up by changing the game mechanics. If they ever made NOLF3 I'm sure it would suck balls compared to NOLF2. However a game set in the same universe like another Arcanum game could be good. As long as they don't fuck up the lore...

Prototype.
I'm with the OP on this one, the game is excellent but the story just doesn't fit in.
i know! what if the character's entire... well... character was actually a guy who enjoyed what he did. sure it would make him unrelatable, but he could at least be hilarious or something. the whole "grimacing, dark man with bad past" is done and overdone...

if i were to make this, i'd make my main character take a more "Destroy All Humans!" approach, because that story and gameplay matched well (at least with the first game :p)

I have seen this video and both games are so horrible that I meant for a legitimately good sequel to be made.

Fallout more than anything.

I'd also love a spiritual successor to Planescape Torment, althouh I doubt any of the developers currently working are really compotent to do that.

You think he's bad, you should have seen the real Alex Mercer. The virus at least begins to care about people. Alex let loose the virus in the subway of New York where his sister lived after doing almost nothing to protect her from Blackwatch (hell he didn't even contact her up until that point because he thought she was just a nuisance). Why did he do that? It clearly wasn't to stop the viral outbreak it could cause, or just an accident. No, he decided he was worth however many deaths the virus would cause and that he'd also get to take down his company too

Anyways, I'd say these games need a spirtual successor:

Legend of the Dragoon
Prototype
Psychonauts
Lost Planet 1
Metal Gear Solid (Kojima, I know you want to continue that universe but please, let it end and do some Tactical Espionage Action games set in say... an alternate world)
Demon's Souls
Brutal Legend

Need a sequel
Xenosaga trilogy
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Star Wars: Battlefront
Darksiders (There was a lot of good I could see that easily could have made a superb game if it had been done and the end set things up in the right direction. Especially if you keep War at the level he ended at, and level him up from there)
The new Prince of Persia (like Darksiders, I saw a lot I liked and the ending looked like things were gonna be good if a sequel was made)
The Darkness (the original was a good game. Not perfect but certainly good. I'd love to see 2K themselves take it over rather than just publish it, as it certainly reminded me of Bioshock at times)
