Wing Commander, Popolous, Ultima, Monkey Island, Lemmings.

I can't understand why there hasn't been new games in those amazing series, especially with Kickstarter existing now.
I can tell you why there haven't for three of them, at least.

Wing Commander, Ultima: Created by Origin.
Populous: Bullfrog

Both studios are now in a shallow grave behind EA Headquarters.

For the old, Turok: Rage Wars. It got overshadowed by Perfect Dark and Golden Eye, but this is the epitome of arena based combat that matched that of Quake III and Unreal. If any game needs a remake, it is this.

For the new, Titan Quest. Even after the release of Diablo III, I would still call this the best of the dungeon crawler genre (even though you're outside most of the time). This truly is a lost gem and I hope it gets rediscovered.

These may be obscure, but you have to trust me on this.

Star wars: Jedi Academy! I spent so many hours on that game, and they left with a cliffhanger ending, and then nothing happened! I didn't become a dark lord of the sith for nothing!

I second Brave Fencer Musashi. That game practically oozed charm and fun times. Damn shame I heard the sequel wasn't as good.

I feel like say this all the time on threads like this but if just one person heads me, it will have been worth it; it is a tragedy that Sacrifice from Shiny has been forgotten.
Shiny Entertainment defined the 'shiny' term as a plus long before Firefly. Fun games and good times.

OT: For my part, I wish they had either let Megaman X stay finished at 5 or given it some decent sequels. X6 was alright, but not...as a successor to the previous games.

Jedi Academy, Republic Commando... I donno, I feel like Okami was a really unique game that never really got much attention because of its release at the EXTREME hind end of the PS2 era.

I'm gonna 'steal' this from Extra Credits but...

E.V.O - Search for Eden

One of the BEST games Enix ever released, and the only games I can think that's like it are Spore and Cubivor.

A properly done next-gen Ultima would be even better than Skyrim!
Ultima, Wing commander and I believe Populous are property of EA right now, so yeah their too busy winning golden poo's to make those. Monkey Island is property of Lucasarts (who have repurposed themselves to a star wars factory) besides haven't you heard of Tales of monkey Island? I've heard it was decent.

I usually use threads like this to ask for or advocate in favor of Tecmo's Deception series. But I'd also like a followup to 1994's "Quarantine."

It took a pretty high-end CPU to run that game at release, and few people played it. But it was good. It was the true precursor to twisted metal type of driving combat game (more so than carmageddon.) In fact, the first time I heard about the video game "Crazy Taxi" I was hoping it was a followup to Quarantine. It was not. Think of Quarantine as "really" Crazy Taxi.

Mother.
Fucking.
Pharaoh!

I recently got this from GoG after suddenly remembering it existed. I'm having issues getting it to work on Windows 7 but I'll keep at it.

Also, most of the other games I've got from GoG.
Populous the Beginning especially.

Destroy All Humans boxart

Because this game is so freaking different and awesome at the same time!
I love that game so. There's nothing quite like telekinetically lifting a giant robot sent to destroy you and throwing halfway across the entire city.

So many beautiful multiplayer memories of this game. Sometimes we'd just not bother fighting each other and endeavour to annihilate the whole city. EVERYTHING was destructible and nearly everything was a weapon. If you still have a PS2 or a PC powerful enough to run an emulator well, GET THIS GAME.

Timeplitters: Future Perfect image
There's a group on Facebook that's caught Crytek's attention that's campaigning for the series' revival. I hope it works out, Timesplitters or a spiritual successor is exactly what the FPS genre needs right now.

There was a third game released for the original Xbox. It was awful, had nothing to do with the first two either plot or gameplay wise and effectively killed the series =[ It made me sad.

I thank you. Really. I do. If I had something to give, I would probably give it to you.
I remember that game from years back, playing it with one of my brothers friends. Whenever I tried to describe the game to anyone, they didn't know what it was.
I had pretty much resigned myself to believing that I had dreamed it, and there was no such game.
I am fairly sure that is the game, so I amn eternally greatful!

Jedi Academy, Republic Commando...
I agree with both of these guys.
Here's my list:
-Jedi Academy (and the whole Jedi Knight series, by extension.)
-Republic Commando (I loved the first-person hacking/bomb arming for some reason, and I want to find out what really happened to Sev)
-Star Wars X-Wing and TIE Fighter
-Star Wars Battlefront (Seriously, someone just finish it and take my damn money)

I know there are others, but I think I should just keep my post limited to Star Wars or it'd go on for days.

I will note that I want Lucasarts nowhere near these properties, ever.

I'd like to see Jedi Academy with a fresh coat of paint, and perhaps with Mount and Blade style directional attacks. This would bring lightsaber combat more in line with the look and feel of the original trilogy. My favorite thing about Jedi Academy was always the custom skinning and mapping community. I'd love to see those get integrated more into the game, so we'd have individual and intimidating sith battling heroic jedi in exotic and beautiful locations. I get images in my head of fighting inside huge temples, on crumbling towers in the rain, and on flimsy catwalks above sizzling lava. Some extra moves like kicks, spins, and perhaps some rudimentary force powers like push and pull would work great in what I imagine would be a more duel-focused game. The story mode would follow your path to knighthood or dominance over the galaxy, taking on one or a few enemies at a time. Multiplayer would definitely have 1v1 duels as the focus, but it could have everything from ffa to capture the flag to some sort of conquest or King of the hill mode. I also really liked the 2v1 power duels from JA, so that'd carry over.

As for X-Wing/TIE Fighter, I'd like to see a campaign where you join either side as your own custom pilot and take part in a squadron. It would be like Top Gun meets Star Wars meets Mass Effect. You'd get to customize your guy, tune your X-Wing/TIE, go out on all your various missions together, and then chat up your squadron and commander back at base.
As for multiplayer, I'd love to have some massive, complex network of servers that function as pseudo-matchmaking. There would be one large galaxy map, and players would ship off to serve on active carriers within that galaxy map. When two carriers meet, they enter battle. The actual logistics isn't fully worked out yet, but the idea is that you'd have some small amount of persistence. Instead of having a lobby, you have two separate carriers that act as segregated lobbies where people perform their customizing and socializing, and then when they get paired up, the players all enter the instanced round with the carriers functioning as spawn points. What would be neat is some form of private match carrier, or clan carriers. Each carrier could have it's own name, perhaps a little emblem on it somewhere, or some other distinguishing feature. You could choose which carriers to serve on, and it might feel a bit more personal. Sort of like a server browser combined with matchmaking. You'd seek out carriers frequented by people you like, and then the lot of you would work together to defeat whatever enemies you run into. All of it's just frilly window dressing on top of the fun pseudo-arcade X-Wing gameplay.

Like I said, I don't want Lucasarts to do these. They have no imagination, and could never pull off anything like what I've described. Case in point, TFU I and II, and the upcoming Star Wars 1313.

But they used to be sooooooo good though. I agree totally, everything recent out of Lucasarts has been shovelware SW junk. Last thing good I can remember was really Pandemic and it was "Mercenaries."

But speaking Lucasarts and just the thread topic in general... how good would a followup to "Outlaws" be?

Still have a working copy of Outlaws. The soundtrack (in cd audio format) is on the disc, and to this day I use it as mood music in my deadlands campaign.
