[sub]note: that multiplayer includes co-op as well as PvP.[/sub]

I am going to start with Assassin's Creed. Although everything I have seen from Brotherhood looks good and might be fun, I just don't feel like the gameplay or concept really lends itself to being multiplayer. I am still going to pick it up but I hope they don't include multiplayer in AC3.

Next up: Mass Effect. I freaking love this franchise, and can't wait until ME3 is formally announced and we get to see stuff. I was very disappointed to hear the rumours of multiplayer in Mass Effect 3, I sincerely hope that they aren't true. Mass Effect is a game about the universe, the story and most importantly the characters. Also, although the gameplay came much closer to mainstream shooters in ME2, I still don't think the gameplay or the style of game is suited to multiplayer.

Every horror game, anytime ever. This is pretty self-explanatory. Things aren't anywhere near is scary when you aren' alone. Unfortunately, as Shamus Young mentioned [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/stolen-pixels/7784-Stolen-Pixels-208-Nine-Bullets] AI isn't quite up to the task of conserving ammo, which is a necessity in horror games.

This is all I could think of at the mo. What else can you guys and gals think up?

Well I disagree on the Assassin's creed front, but in my opinion every sandbox game ever could be improved with the addition of coop freeroam, so yeah.

Every horror game is a definite though, it just doesn't make any sense.

And RPGs, although that's not as definite, as there are some where it would just work.

Well, you don't have to play it, so as long as they half ass it and barely spend any money on it the rest of the game won't be affected...

That said, Heavy Rain. It just wouldn't make sense.

Final Fantasy should of never had multiplayer it used to be a franchise where you would go through and most likely die a couple times in the beginning until you over power your party so much that even your white mage can kill a dragon by bashing it in the face with a staff.

The Gran Turismo series. I'm not afraid of being controversial!

Seriously though, the Super Mario Bros. series. They're the best single-player.

I am gonna go with Pinball here... since most games are generally shit and should not even have the grace of a release date :/

Bioshock 2, I guess they realised that they weren't going to make the second as good as the first, so they just slapped on multiplayer and released it. Which is why I didn't get it :D

Just like I won't be getting AC: Brotherhood.

I agree with Mass Effect 3, and also put forward Fallout. I heard awhile back there was plans for a Fallout MMO, just doesnt seem right...

Depends on your definition of "multiplayer". I think a lot of games are best as straight co-op and should never delve into the realm of competitive multiplayer (deathmatch, team dm, CTF etc.) and some should just stick with single-player. Games that are more heavily story-oriented and graphically driven should remain that way and not be hampered by underdeveloped multiplayer.
Especially 99.9% of RPG's. There's no reason for RPG's to go multi (even tho I think an Oblivion-style game might be fun I doubt they could pull it off to satisfaction). You're either an MMO or single-player.
I think its tacky as hell to just pop multiplayer in a game that really doesn't need it. Bioshock was one of those games I don't think ever needs multiplayer, its best off as a stand-alone.

Fallout 3. The shooting isn't very great, and it only really works with V.A.T.S which would be really awkward in multiplayer.

I disagree on the horror movies. Obscure was a solid survival horror co-op game. Resident evil dumbed it down to the point where you were just two super humans slaughtering zombies at random and not co-operating to survive.

If Obscure had a bigger budget and a bit more polish it would have been great. Online multiplayer only though, as you'd have to be able to split up from the group. Think of like, Left 4 Dead, but in tighter confines, with less monsters and less guns and ammo.

Hahaha... Can you imagine V.A.T.S in multiplayer...

No no no you just stand there while I aim...

Then why not just play baseball on a 8bit console... lmfao

RPGs in general... With the exception of MMORPGs, which are almost a different genre at this point.

Also, God of War... That would make little sense.

A vs. or death match would be very odd in games like final fantasy. On second thought FF:tactics has a multiplayer thing, although Ive never tried it, and I think a multiplayer in system like that would be a good thing if done right. I dont even see how god of war would even be possible in multiplayer.

Mass Effect.
I strongly disagree Mass Effect could have multiplayer without it demolishing the entire franchise the other players would take control of the other squadmates instead of AI and that would be that they would certainly be more effective flankers than the AI and the Story wouldnt be hampered by having competent teammates (and not bored friends for like the next few days after I buy ME3)
