I have to say, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

Alpha Protocol comes to mind.
Buggy AI, weird stealth movements, bosses are way too hard and the hacking/lockpicking system is hard as hell... but I still love the game!
Pfft, hacking and lockpicking weren't that hard :p

In any case, I think Alpha Protocol was by far an underrated game.

Mount and Blade. The graphics are horribad, there is no real story other than what you decide to invent in your head and the troop controles are dodgy at best and directly suicidal at worst. Still, the feeling of freedom is so incredible that I just cant help but love it. Normal games have 60 play hours max for me if it is a good game - only 2 games ever surpassed that and that is kotor 1 (with 127 hours, 60 of which are probably afk time anyway), dota (which I have been playing since 2003) and Mount and Blade which so far has clocked an astounding (my my perspective) 207 hours of play time... And I am in no way even near to having finished it.

I have been ninja'd many times, but I shall write them down anyway:

DA2 - Loved the first, loved the second
Fable 2
Shadow the Hedgehog
Fifa 99 - Occasional horrible design, but was still fun.

Space Engine.
Its not even a game but it just looks so damn good.

What is this, and where can I find it? Googling "space engine" now...

OT: MW2. The multiplayer is hilariously unbalanced and questionably designed, but it lets you do stuff like this:

Deadly Premonition. Best terrible game ever. Play through it, and laugh your way through ridiculous characters and storyline.

Monkey Hero for the psx.

A really bad Zelda rip off starring a monkey in a vaguely eastern setting.
Absolutely awful, but I love it. Bought it in a WHsmiths about 10 years ago (before they even did games really) as a kid and thought it was great.

One thing I will say, a character's name in the game is 'Gypsy Brown Boy'.

I shit you not.

I was even offended at that when I was 8. Aside from casual racism and general awfulness I thoroughly enjoyed my time with that game. And it's ace soundtrack.
OMG!!!!! that was my very first Playstation game!!!!

GO GO MONKEY HERO GO GO!....sorry happy memories....but yes i agree with you

According to most people, Dragon Age 2 sucked, yet it's one of my favorite games...

EDIT: Also the second and third games in the Fable series. [sub]although I wish Captain Saker had more of a role in 3...[/sub]

I dunno... I guess Saint's Row 2? Star Wars Galaxies (pre-cu)? I don't really pay attention to what other people think about the games I like, so that is hard to say.

Crackdown 2. It got bad reviews because it was repetitive and didn't have a good story. Well fuck that! I play Crackdown to dick around.... and that's exactly what a did.

Oh, I agree, but it wasn't too well received by critics. I mean, it has a pretty low metacritic score, so I guess there were some people out there who thought it sucked.

For me my number one favorite bad game probably has to be Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets on the Ps2 there were ALOT of stealth missions in the game and the stealth mechanics were um well not so good. in fact I hated the stealth sections. in fact the entire game was pretty bad but the stealth sections were the worst.
Heh, I don't know why but I enjoyed the Harry Potter games. I didn't mind the first, liked the second and thought the third was awesome! I stopped playing games like that after the third though.

Alpha Protocol.
Some very bad design choices, unbalanced gameplay, crappy AI and lot's of bugs with some memorable (although mostly bland) characters, with great storytelling and the best dialogue implementation I have seen to date. Also, choices that matter in the short and long run, making AP a true RPG, unlike some other games sadly mistaken for RPGs (*cough* ME series *cough*).

I don't know if it actually "sucks" as the game's got good reviews but is hated here on the Escapist (mostly). Modern Warfare 2.
