I was quite surprised by Marvel vs Capcom 3. I thought it was just gonna be an extremely hyper button mash fest.

It was. BUT GODDAMN it was a blast.

And who couldn't love Deadpool?

I got Red Faction Guerrilla for very cheap and I wasn't expecting much, but the destruction physics were so good that it made wrecking shit fun. Take that, Mars.

Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 2 - I though it was just one of those crappy RPG games where you run around killing monsters and doing the same thing over and over but after playing it co-op with my brother i realized that its and awesome game with a compelling story and great weapons and gameplay

The Orange box. I didn't think the games would be that good. Man, I was SO wrong. TF2 blew me away with visuals and classes, Half Life 2 surprised me in every way possible. Portal was okay.

Mass Effect. I was expecting a shallow RPG combined with a dumbed-down FPS... so I waited until I could pick it up for $20 (PC). Turns out it was decent RPG with amazing universe-building... and a dumbed-down FPS. Still, the narrative and the universe they set the game in were enough to make me love it.

Lost Planet 2. Thankfully my friend got me to try it.

God DAMN was it fun.
YES! I avoided this game because of the reviews despite how excited i previously was for it. Recently I decided to look deeper into it, and give it a chance. O_O AMAZING.. Greatest co-op game i've ever played.

When I first heard about Unreal 1, I thought it was a brownish-grey fantasy game. Turned out it's still the best FPS since Half Life series.

Jericho was also suprisingly good despite the premise and ZP -review. Kind of like The Lost Vikings with guns.

Oh, yes, and in addition to Borderlands, I liked Fable 3 and Fallout New Vegas.

asassins creed brotherhood. i was expecting a cheap, glitchy, cash-in game (which it kinda was), but lo and behold the actually ADDED all sorts of new gear and abilities, in an age where the standard sequel process seems to be deleting half the game, changing some names and models around, and calling it 'streamlining'.

Psychonauts. Got it in a 10 dollar bin at a big bargain retailer, never had heard of it, and it just so happened to be one of the best games I've ever played. Ever.

Dawn of war Dark Crusade

I got it for a pound in a shop that underprices PC games epically

(I have got 10 - 20 games for 50p to a £1)

*Installs game*

This looked cool. If it sucks it was 50p, so meh

*plays tutorial*

These Tau guys are cool

*gets into first battle*

OMG that monsters (ork) guts fell out because of my hover tank this is AWESOME

Shame the game has no story based campaign :(

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

Loved RPG's, saw this reviewed for the PC, tried it out and have been hooked on the series since,

Disciples... motherfucking... 2... It came bundled in a bargain bin 6pack of old fantasy games. If you haven't played it, it's a fantasy (like elves n orcs fantasy) turn-based strategy rpg. it gets compared to heroes of might and magic a lot but they're pretty different so if you didn't like homm don't poo poo disciples straight off the bat.

FOR WOTAN!!

Have a ton but, Valkyria Chronicles, Red Faction Guerrilla, and Borderlands; are the ones that really stand out. To a lesser extent The Godfather 2, I really wanted to like but I haven't played it enough.

I agree with you on New Vegas. I thought it was going to be a poor, full game-sized expansion to Fallout 3. I was wrong. It blew FO3 out of the water.

I loved the concept but never thought the story....the story in a pokemon game would be phenomenal. This is a mass effect level story, I kid you not.

Everything works about this game (Other than SOME parts of the gameplay, which can be repetitive after 2 hours at a time with it)

Well written, well darkened, and well thought out. I just hope when they make a sequel with 5th generation pokemon, they keep the same writer.

Yeah, I agree with. When I saw the previews for it, I thought "It looks exactly like Fallout 3" and to some extent, it does but the game itself is pretty much better on every level for me.
