Games that took you FOREVER to beat

For me, GTA IV fits this category. Before my brother kindly erased my file without my permission, I was about 20% into the game, and had 17 hours of play time. I don't know how this stacks up against anyone else, but I felt like I was trudgeing through that game with hundred pound weights on both my ankles and wrists the whole way, no matter how much I loved it.

So, Escapists, what games have taken you forever to beat? Were they worth it? Were they actually hard, or just long?

Dragon Age: Origins took me a good while to beat, though not as much as I expected.

The game that is taking me ages to beat is Persona 4. I have played it for over 35 hours and I have 3 dungeons left to finish. It's insanely long, and so good.

Oblivion, 100 hours into the game I realized I had never finished the campaign, gotta love open world games

I'd have to go with Sonic 2... it's been what, 12 years and I JUST beat the last level with the mega drive collection. Boo-yah.

Mass Effect 1 was my longest not that it was hard but in RPG's I like to do every thing so I guess I made it longer than it really had to be. It was 36 hrs of straight playing to do everything & I still have not completed all the challenges for the gamer points one day I will get back on that lol.

Fallout 3, almost half a year (not including DLC). This is mostly because I took my time doing lots of random shit, and my lvl 20 save file corrupted and I had to start again. I am counting completing it for when I finally got 1000G. Another half a year t complete all the DLC and get all 1550G.

Also CoD: WaW, a whole year and a bit. Only because I sold it and then bought it back ages later just to complete the last 2 levels (fucking grenade spamming AI)

Lol i did the exact same thing. Got it when it was released and just barely beat it a few weeks ago.

I'd have to go with Red Faction on the PS2. I used to play it here n there after school but one day i got really far into it and had to save quickly and unplug due to a storm... only to come back with 30 seconds left on a timer to get through the whole stage. Had to restart the whole game and i think i was near the end at that point... I = L2Pause after that LoL

Well, in terms of play time it's Oblivion. I've played it for well over 100 hours.

If we're talking about thing we started and didn't finish for ages then probably Lost Odyssey. Bought it on release day in Europe, completed it 2 days ago.
