A certain Onimusha, where the last boss has like fifty-thousand forms. I got all the way there and then couldn't do it. I rushed out and abandoned that stinking game at a local hock shop the day after. It haunts me, since that has never happened before, and I never got to taste the sweet success of completing it.

I have given up on quite a few games due to difficulty, but the one I have come back to most often, and failed to beat so miserably is Rainbow Islands.

for me it had to be hype the time quest. You are dropped into a dungeon which has zero visability on max light settings, you have no map, I never to this day have found a way out.

Dungeons and Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun for Sega Genesis was like this for me. I think I picked it up six or seven times in my life, going from the beginning through the forest, the jungle, and all the way to the fire caves... and I never made it out the other side of those. Just didn't have the patience.

...I also never quite beat Destiny of an Emperor for NES... or Phantasy Star one through three (Sega Master System and Genesis).

Heroes of Might and Magic for the PS2. Oh god I was awful at that game. Its distressing really. I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing.

I... I never finished System Shock 2.

I got a fair way in, then I upgraded my computer and never got it to work under Windows XP.

I'd love to play it again and finish it, but even if I could get it working under my current Windows Vista computer, I've long since lost the disc.

It torments me that I never got around to finishing it after the original System Shock was utterly brilliant and System Shock 2 was shaping up to be just as good if not better.

The first 2 Oddworld games. I'm not sure if I've ever come close to finishing them because they're pretty long but during my playthrough I usually stop for a while because I just kind of get bored of nothing but Oddworld for a few days and by the time I've come back something has happened, either my hard drive's gotten a virus or I accidentally deleted it when clearing things out and I have to start again. I don't know why this only seems to happen with oddworld though.

And Eternal Sonata. I've been stuck on a boss for a long time though I've only attempted it 2 or 3 times. I tried grinding but I'm barely getting any exp and I just can't be bothered with it.

The turn-based strategy game? They made one for the ps2? Heroes III is one of my favorite games...
