Conker's Bad Fur day is the best 40$ I've spent on years in a game. Hilarious, interesting and fun. What more can ya ask for? Multiplayer is pretty decent too, for N64 anyways.

Minecraft, Xcom, and Jagged Alliance 2. For a dollar per content ratio Baldur's Gate 2 is right up there too.

The Void and Zeno Clash. I picked up both games for only $20 when they were new and they happen to be the two best games that I've ever played. They were more than worth every penny, they were worth 4 pennies for every penny that I spent.

The Sims 3 has great longlevity aswell although I could understand why some people don't like it.

Iv'e played WOW since Vanilla and had great fun I stopped playing recently though was just getting a bit old.

Portal 2, I just loved it, absolutely loved it.
TF2 I play it whenever I can.
BF2 while I was playing it, it was the best time I ever had. Now I'm looking forward to BF3.

I think most of the games I ever bought in life were worth the money. Especially since some of them were at discount.

A shorter list would be games that I bought that I disliked or didn't think were worth the money I bought them with.

The Force Unleashed, Fable, Fable 2... Apart from that, I rarely buy games that I don't imagine myself liking. Dragon Age Origins and Fallout New Vegas took me a long time to get into, but once I did, they were certainly worth it. One example of a strange one is God of War 2. I bought and played through GoW and LOVED it. I bought GoW2, played it for 20 minutes and then never played it again. Certainly not worth the 60 bucks I paid for it in retrospect, and I don't even own it anymore so I can make up for it (and I probably would could I). Metal Gear Solid 3 as well. I rented Metal Gear Solid 3, beat it. Then I found it for sale for cheap, like 10 dollars, bought it. NEVER PLAYED IT after I bought it, not even once. Then I traded it in, and a couple years later had a hankering to play Metal Gear Solid 1, and the only way to buy it at the time was in a collection taht had MGS 1, 2, and 3. I ONLY played MGS1 in that collection, never had any intention of playing the other ones, and then traded it in. Not much value there either for dollar spent.

If we're talking about less good games gotten cheap that were certainly worth the cost, The Darkness and Dark Sector. Both probably about A quality games (as opposed to AAA), which were released as AAA games, both of which I got for about 10 bucks, and both easily worth 2-3 times that much in my eyes.

If we're talking about expensive games that we got the most enjoyment out of per dollar for expensive games, Collectors Edition Mass Effect 2 and Collector's Edition Assassin's Creed (horrible collector's edition btw, but cost me an extra 10 bucks). Both of which I played like CRAZY.

If you want value in your gaming dollar, there are really 3 companies to look at closely, and interestingly, all B names - Blizzard, Bethesda and Bioware.. all 3 of them make games that are always worth the cost of admission, and anything even tangentially related to them is always great as well.

All of my games, really. About half were gifts, and kept me going for quite a while. The games I've bought myself, though...

Tie between Portal 2 and Pokemon SoulSilver. SS was a bit of an impulse buy, I was going on a trip and needed something to keep me from going nuts. When I ended up being stuck in a hotel for two weeks, I got my money's worth.

Portal 2 is... well, it's Portal 2. It kept me hooked for around eight hours straight, and I've replayed it several times already, it's a fantastic game.

Baldur's Gate II

If I were calculate the cost per unit of time that I've enjoyed this game... well I'd get a figure like 1-5 hours/cent perhaps more.

Portal II might be a contender... depends on post launch support (how much free DLC we'll get) and the quality of the player made maps.

EDIT:

Also any game that I enjoyed that cost me nothing is by definition worth every penny :D
Incidentally Portal falls under that... because I picked it up during Valve's free Portal thing.

I'm surprised so few people have said Minecraft. I was expecting every second post to mention it.

Minecraft aside, I'll go for the various DOS games from Apogee and Epic I bought back in the 1990s. Got a lot of replay out of them on ye olde 486.

I think Fate Of The World would probably also qualify. Bought it for $10 on Steam after hearing about it on Extra Credits. Still haven't finished it.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
Not that pricey, but Amnesia delivers where some games (specifically survival horror [glaring at Dead Space]) don't. So much fun to play over and over because you can easily forget some events that happened. (Coincidence? Does Frictional Games have mind control?)

Team Fortress 2!
Duh! Why not? This is a super fun game that always makes me happy because there are so many ways to play it. The cartoon violence is perfect, and the sheer number of loadout combinations is incredible. Some of the best parts of my day have been playing this with my friends. The one thing that's a drag is the store. TF2 used to have you work for your items, but now any cheep player can go buy their characters a seemingly unbeatable loadout. It makes me sad...
But then I connect to a server, kill everyone, and I'm happy again.
