The two Zelda games on the N64. I just beat Majora's Mask again a few days ago and I can't tell you how many times I've played Ocarina of Time. I also find myself going back to play Half-Life 2 and Final Fantasy VII every once in a while.
Hell, the ORIGINAL Half-Life still holds up pretty damn well. But the very core of those games is atmosphere, pacing, storytelling and level design. The whole shooting aspect had obviously been done before, possibly done better, but I haven't played anything quite like the Half-Life series, the second one ranks up there with Resident Evil 4 and Metal Gear Solid 2 as my all-time favorite games.Sp3ratus said:Meh, it might not for you. I still think the atmosphere, feel and universe of the game is fantastic. The shooting, as I mentioned, has arguably been done better later, but atmosphere and storytelling still holds up, atleast I think so. Feel free to disagree though, it's just my personal opinion, after all.Souplex said:I've played Half Life 2 in recent years, it doesn't even hold up now.Sp3ratus said:Planescape: Torment. The graphics might have aged, but the story, oh the so very awesome story haven't and probably won't, ever.
EDIT: I'd also like to add Half-life 2, favourite game of all time. The atmosphere and the masterful storytelling will remain, atleast for me, even though the shooting and gameplay will probably be outdone, if it haven't been already.
You're allowed your own opinion, but I still say it's wrong. Maybe it's the whole "Demon of Razgriz" thing, maybe it's the sentimental value, but I still think that 5 is the best in the series. Blaze > Mobius, Scarface, and everyone else. Also, Ace Combat 6 didn't happen.lazzars said:5 was balls, the music in that included puddle of mud so i can't se it holding up well.bl4ckh4wk64 said:Ace Combat 5
Ace Combat 04 on the other hand, is timeless.
I disagree, and I think the very existence of this thread, and the fact that so many of us agree on the same games, is proof enough for that.Trolldor said:Nothing will ever hold on forever 'as it is'.
There are great old games, classics, that are frankly boring now because of what technology has allowed us to do, because more and more possibilities have opened.
excelent choices....so good i'd hang out w/ you, and i dont even know youGralian said:Goldeneye is still amazing despite all these years.
I've played Super Mario 64 so many times, on the N64 and the wii.
Final Fantasy 9 and Metal Gear Solid are the two most amazing PS1 games, in my humble opinion. I still enjoy playing them to this day.
Starcraft and Dungeon Keeper are from my early PC gaming days and i still enjoy playing those when i can get them to work.
Also, Space Quest and Police Quest were amazing DOS games.
Nope.Trolldor said:Nothing will ever hold on forever 'as it is'.pyrosaw said:Have you ever played a game that is still fresh and fun the day you first played it? Are you willing to take a chance and say it will stay that good for as long as you live? Talk away!
Mine are:
Portal: Even though it copied it's game mechanic from Narbulac Drop, Portal is a game liked by everyone. Short and Sweet, we all wait in anticipation to see if Portal 2 will met it's fans unreasonable standards.
The Neverhood: Some impossible puzzles, but nonetheless, a fantastic point and click adventure game. Great art style, quirky setting, and a great ending.
I know I could name more, but I'd hate to ninja all the options.
