The two Zelda games on the N64. I just beat Majora's Mask again a few days ago and I can't tell you how many times I've played Ocarina of Time. I also find myself going back to play Half-Life 2 and Final Fantasy VII every once in a while.

I'm going to have to go with the first three Mega Man games, simply because everything else I was gonna say is taken. Those are still incredibly fun now. And also Tetris, but that's a given.

Planescape: Torment. The graphics might have aged, but the story, oh the so very awesome story haven't and probably won't, ever.

EDIT: I'd also like to add Half-life 2, favourite game of all time. The atmosphere and the masterful storytelling will remain, atleast for me, even though the shooting and gameplay will probably be outdone, if it haven't been already.
I've played Half Life 2 in recent years, it doesn't even hold up now.
Meh, it might not for you. I still think the atmosphere, feel and universe of the game is fantastic. The shooting, as I mentioned, has arguably been done better later, but atmosphere and storytelling still holds up, atleast I think so. Feel free to disagree though, it's just my personal opinion, after all.
Hell, the ORIGINAL Half-Life still holds up pretty damn well. But the very core of those games is atmosphere, pacing, storytelling and level design. The whole shooting aspect had obviously been done before, possibly done better, but I haven't played anything quite like the Half-Life series, the second one ranks up there with Resident Evil 4 and Metal Gear Solid 2 as my all-time favorite games.

That's not to say that it will never be outdated, the graphics and such will become painful over time. But they have certainly done a good job of holding up, Valve uses modified versions of Source for every game they make and it's been almost seven years....

Ace Combat 5
5 was balls, the music in that included puddle of mud so i can't se it holding up well.

Ace Combat 04 on the other hand, is timeless.
You're allowed your own opinion, but I still say it's wrong. Maybe it's the whole "Demon of Razgriz" thing, maybe it's the sentimental value, but I still think that 5 is the best in the series. Blaze > Mobius, Scarface, and everyone else. Also, Ace Combat 6 didn't happen.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines just keeps getting better and better, the way I see it. Its sheer ambition just embellishes it the more unadventurous RPG's I play.

There are great old games, classics, that are frankly boring now because of what technology has allowed us to do, because more and more possibilities have opened.
I disagree, and I think the very existence of this thread, and the fact that so many of us agree on the same games, is proof enough for that.

Pokemon Red/Blue.
I still manage to play one of these annually and will probably do so for many years to come.

Ico and the Last Guardian. Both games were beautiful, and even were I to play them today, with their crappy graphics and all, I think I'd still enjoy them. Maybe Okami as well, for the same reasons.

Also, Shogun and Rome Total War make the list for me, and KotOR. I actually went back and played KotOR again just a couple of months ago, for the sake of nostalgia, and finished it in its entirety, despite the graphics now being old and outdated, and the combat mechanics being so damned clunky.

Deus Ex. Its story, atmosphere and mechanics aren't subject to the teeth of time.

Goldeneye is still amazing despite all these years.

I've played Super Mario 64 so many times, on the N64 and the wii.

Final Fantasy 9 and Metal Gear Solid are the two most amazing PS1 games, in my humble opinion. I still enjoy playing them to this day.

Starcraft and Dungeon Keeper are from my early PC gaming days and i still enjoy playing those when i can get them to work.

Also, Space Quest and Police Quest were amazing DOS games.
excelent choices....so good i'd hang out w/ you, and i dont even know you

Have you ever played a game that is still fresh and fun the day you first played it? Are you willing to take a chance and say it will stay that good for as long as you live? Talk away!
Mine are:

Portal: Even though it copied it's game mechanic from Narbulac Drop, Portal is a game liked by everyone. Short and Sweet, we all wait in anticipation to see if Portal 2 will met it's fans unreasonable standards.

The Neverhood: Some impossible puzzles, but nonetheless, a fantastic point and click adventure game. Great art style, quirky setting, and a great ending.

I know I could name more, but I'd hate to ninja all the options.

Nope.
Actually, technological progress can be the doom of gaming. Fancy 3d graphics and full voice acting are expensive, so it's unlikely to - for example - make a game like Baldur's Gate 2 today.
