I've seen a few made; Mario and FFVII:AC are good examples, and Zelda is being made (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBCzkz3gHb8).
But what games would make good movies? I'd have to go with Team Fortress 2, just from the "Meet the" trailers.

Yeah I know it's fake

Valve have said they were intrested in a TF2 mini series/movie.

But L4D is actually a great candidate. Why? Its because the devs designed it to be movie like.

That and its Zombies.

Oh and the Half lifes.

Some rainbow 6 games would make "good" movies in the sense of shooting the libing fuck out of everything.

Mirrors edge? Probs not, to obvious a plot really.

FEAR? I couldn't say, but the plot from what I have heard is very generic.

A DOW2 movie would be good for the W40k TT fans, Fluff fans, and fans of the game, but it probally wouldn't appeal to the wider audience unless changed away from fluff direction.

COD series wouldn't make movies, with no real plot and being hugly disjointed.

Halo? meh, its not exactly a stunning plot.

I got caried away, my bad.

you could even get static-x to do the soundtrack, great stuff

halo, that film will and aways be a joke to film buffs (like me), no one in their right mind will make a halo movie for a porpose, they will make it to milk the breast of the francise,

None, a video game is its own media. To trasform it and shape it to fit another media realm would ruin the game/movie, as the movie would leave most of the source material behind. When you play a game the primary story lasts usually more than 5 hours, thats 5 hours of story telling and character developement. A movie does not have that kind of time, so often it feels dodgy and disjointed, as it has to cut corners to make everything fit.

I was thinking of making a thread like this :( should have got my arse in gear lol.
I want there to be a Halo film I think it would be a good film, maybe do it about another character except masterchief to get rid of some annoying fanboys. Fallout maybe could become a good film. I don't really no what else though generally, although I enjoyed the hitman film and both final fantasy films and the pokemon films but i watched them when i was a lot younger so i have an excuse.

They could always just expand a bit on the original story or link 2 games together in a series, but i do agree they do often feel like they are missing something

Yeah they would milk the franchise, but i do think it could be made in a way that could be worth a watch. I know your probably gonna flmae me with loads of different reasons, but i don't really care for film buffs they annoy me, no offence meant.

This could be pretty solid, but I would replace Walken with Hugo Weaving. Also if G-Force can get made so can Sly Cooper.

non taken,

with halo what will the film use as source matirail, the game, the books, they will have to get a plot from a game with a realy dull plot, kill aliens because...

to make this good they will have to right a script so good, that it pleases both factions (buffs vs. fans)

also you can have to much action, if you fill it with action then the film will be just boring to watch ala' mission impossible 2 (a boring film)

the chances are the film might be made full cgi and direct to dvd,

What about book to movie conversions? I give bladerunner as one of the many good conversions.

I also give I am legend as an example of a bad one.

...they changed the ending into that HORRIBLE bit of writing that is the suicide. The original has an actual message, but thats to much for the hollywood morons to handle

Halo, read the books and the plot is much cooler.

God of War, Army of Two, Half Life, a good Mortal Kombat, throw the story away, just put in some spine ripping.

I agree, I enjoyed the books far more than the games.

I know that Valve wants there to be a Team Fortress 2 cartoon, but I'm not too sure about a Half Life movie. Again, the transition in medium really messes up the storytelling. The purpose of a game narrative is to give small prods as to why the game plays the way it does, which makes for an extremely bland movie.

I enjoyed I Am Ledgend, although I agree with you the ending was poor and did spoil the whole feel of the film for me

Read the book, just for the ending. Its a powerful message. If anyone wants to know the actual message/ending, then PM me.

I say Tomb Raider and have the actress wearing something really tight to show off her breasts. Oh... it's been done. Okay.

Well how about Resident Evil but make the lead a really hot chick with super pow... what... that's been done too? Aww, shucks...

I've got it, how about a Final Fantasy movie. They rely heavily on story anyways, so I don't see how they could screw it up. You could even use their state of the art animation abilities. What? They screwed it up? They made some stupid futuristic plot on Earth? Fine. I give up.

Like th halo ledgends which is in production by many different top Animation companys, and follows loads of different stories, maybe they could concentrate on like the training of the spartans or just one military campaign or something, a bit of backstory for those who are new too it but most people could probably just take it from the point of view as there bad their good, their fighting. The reason their fighting btw is like most wars, religion, the covenant believe its their god born right to destroy everything that disagrees with them. I think the fanboys could still enjoy it. Or they could just do a film for the fanboys, Most people were annoyed with michael bay for turning transformers into a CGI orgy and not stressing over every little detail, much the same with star trek. This is going by what MovieBob says if i'm not that much mistaken so maybe it would be a good thing.
