Are you kidding me? That film was probably the worst film I have ever seen :|
I said i enjoyed it but the ending spoiled it for me would you please use my whole quote or none of it, what do you work for a newspaper or something? I liked it because I liked the way you slowly see he's insane and losing it then that tart turns up and he sort of snaps out of it I don't really know why I liked it, I like the acting by will smith in it and it was a bit different from other films out at the same time as it.

the Mechwarrior intros always worked as excellent cinematic intros to the game.
The Mechwarrior 4 intro was always my favorite; and could have easily been a cult hit if it had been made into a full length film.

But conversions from straight up video games to movies would never really work; most games involve slaughtering countless thousands of video game baddies, which tends to get a bit dull when placed into any other format (Max Payne was abysmal, because the original games were copying shoot-em-ups, so it came off as a hopeless cliche)

Half Life would never work as a movie, how would they deal with Gordon Freeman's muteness? would they cut him out or butcher his character by nailing down his personality? It undercuts the effort Valve put into the series, so I say just leave it be.

Mass Effect could have worked as a movie/tv show, but the fact that it started as a game means that it wouldn't be the same if it was converted into another medium, and the Gears of War movie I view with dubiousness, I just don't think that those would work that well.

None, a video game is its own media. To trasform it and shape it to fit another media realm would ruin the game/movie, as the movie would leave most of the source material behind. When you play a game the primary story lasts usually more than 5 hours, thats 5 hours of story telling and character developement. A movie does not have that kind of time, so often it feels dodgy and disjointed, as it has to cut corners to make everything fit.
It doesn't have to be a movie of the game's original story, Mr. Inside the box. It can be a spin-off, or a sequel/ prequel to the game based on it's story. For example, a Halo Movie in the far future when a threat other than the flood and covenant is present or a movie of the Fallout universe, following a completely new character's story (who I'm sure you'd meet in Fallout 4). Even a movie on say, Master Chief when he was still joining the millitary or what happens to (can't think of anyone) after the end of (whatever game they were in).

I will admit, there are very little on the list, though I will have to say The Darkness is a game that was made off a comic that I would like to see be made into a movie. Yeah, saying that some how sounds aweful.

Mass Effect... except with the crazy good camera work and characters, it can't do any better. Assassin's Creed as a movie would be just plain awesome. A slaughterhouse but still cool.

Because you know, they've never adapted books into halfway decent movies. I'm looking at YOU, Animal Farm!

First off to be honest I think the term Video game needs to change because it's evolved so much from entertainment purposes into an art of its own, but this is just a personal opinion. Now I think you will never get a "good" video game movie because the mediums of film and video games are so vastly different and to attempt to breed these to will either bastardize the game or make a catastrophically horrible film, there is evidence for both examples. Good films are about strong storytelling, relatively enjoyable characters (both the protagonists and antagonists), and real emotion (sadness, anger, exhilaration, humor, fear etc). Now although good video games fallow these rules as well they must pull on slightly different tabs. One of which being immersion of the player into the world of the game, we're talking sensory details, strong control schemes, and overall enjoyable game play.

On a personal note I enjoy a well crafted game over a film being as there is just so much more you can do in a video game then in a film. Think about sitting down for a ten, twenty, fifty hour film...you would just loose your shit half way through yeah. But a good solid game, you can easily loose track of time and clock in hours upon hours into a game. How many of us remember exploring every corner of a SNES game by the name of "Shadow Run" or "Super Mario RPG", or the N64 "Golden Eye" or "Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time". And these are just our formative years I won't even begin with any of the Playstation's, Xbox's,Game Cube etc.

So what have we learned, well first off video games and films cannot exactly interbreed well for either art form. And that video games have evolved into a solid medium of art and social commentary, and in a least my opinion have the potential to be so much more then a film.

Now that I've wasted your time with my rant, I think a Far Cry 2 (This is crucial that the 2nd game be the base model) film would be pretty cool. MGS has to potential but would have to be done by a smart film maker and WELL crafted script. And I personally would think a BioShock film would make people piss themselves if done well.

None.

In order to really advance artistically, videogames need to stop being tethered to films. Mostly by us, the consumer, but also by the developers themselves. They need to stop trying to make movies with playable parts peppered in throughout. A simple way to curb this is to do away with cutscenes! I've been advocating the abolishment of the cutscene for years for just this reason.

That reminds me, has there ever been a film done completely from the first person? Because that might actually be cool...

Valve have said they were intrested in a TF2 mini series/movie.

But L4D is actually a great candidate. Why? Its because the devs designed it to be movie like.

That and its Zombies.

Assassin cred, gow, fallout, and bioshock would make good movies because their stories give alot of room for spinoff that wont clash with the story.
