Many games today have this new fangled thing called "online multiplayer." You know, like xbox live, or stuff on wii and PS3.

But I am wondering, what games or game franchises would not be able to work with this stuff?

I say Silent Hill.

I'm not saying that they coudn't, but a series like that just dosent work. I'm talking about the more older games like 1 through 3. It is more about thrills, not action. And with clunky fighting controls, monsters seem like the only things you could fight.

BUT! I am not saying that team silent hill is planning to do this, just in case you thought they where.

now a game that would work: solitaire (lol)

Prince of Persia. The good 'ole Sands of Time Trilogy (I can't say for sure whether I feel comfortable including Forgotten Sands into that yet.) It's a tad hard to stop, reverse, and fast forward in multiplayer...

I don't really see Mirror's Edge being a game that could work online. Unless you wanted to just follow others around the city, it'd be pretty pointless, especially because the combat was really poor.

@ above poster, Oblivion and Fallout would work as an MMO because of the setting and the story, but in its current state, neither games is ready for multiplayer.

How 'bout ALL OF THEM? Online multiplayer is one of the many wonderful things that keeps outside perception of gamers firmly planted in "they're all mouth-breathing misogynist retards" territory or "they have no life but spend all their time playing World of Warcraft" territory.

Gaming would probably be better off if we were all just perceived as loners playing singleplayer.

The Elder Scrolls and Mass Effect are the main ones I can think of that just wouldn't work in any circumstance.

There apparently is a Zork MMO.

It sucks though. You solve puzzles with a dice roll.

OT: Dead Space. I love the game but playing online with people would just be annoying as bloody hell.

The Fallout 3 VATS system wouldn't work in multiplayer, you couldn't have the game freeze for one player but continue for another...

Mass Effect wouldn't work, not even as an MMO. It just wouldn't.

Also, Myst. It's hard even to imagine it.
Myst is a mmo already.
