Mass Effect wouldn't work, not even as an MMO. It just wouldn't.

Also, Myst. It's hard even to imagine it.
Myst is a mmo already.

The world has gone mad.

To the bunkers.
try it first, it was quite good when I played it, and really really challanging.

http://mystonline.com/en/ The people who made this don't seem to think so. Someone beat me to the punch, sorry.

Shadow of the Colossus!

what if you played as agro?

Or as the colossus?

Or it was a racing game?

Maybe that would be interesting, though ought to nto have teh Shadow of the Colossus name on it.

Any horror/suspense based game loses tons of the effect when you have a co-op buddy. Left 4 Dead I don't consider horror, because it's not a "scary" game.

Also, any old point&click adventure just wouldn't be fun.

There apparently is a Zork MMO.

It sucks though. You solve puzzles with a dice roll.

OT: Dead Space. I love the game but playing online with people would just be annoying as bloody hell.
In a way, the original Zork was one of the first MMO's. It ran off of a mini computer, which was then accessed over a network by people on other computers. The only important thing that MUDs had that it didn't was actual interaction with the other users. The game was so big that it had to be split up into a trilogy for the eventual home version. [link]http://zork.net/[/link] is a working version of this original Zork. No idea if it's the same copy, though.

Oblivion, Fallout 3, Hitman

Any game with a large, persistent world.

@everyone who wants an Elder Scrolls MMO
You don't. Take Oblivion, add fucktards, and consider how much fun that would be.
Man an Elder Scrolls MMO would suck so hard.
