Cracked brought up the idea of a Star Wars game centred on Han Solo. With it being a open-ended sandbox game, allowing you to perform various criminal activities, such as smuggling.
Also, whilst playing through Uncharted 3 the other day, I reached an epiphany...The Uncharted series could have been an absolute kickass Indiana Jones series instead. If the setting, weaponry, etc was set in and around the 1930's and 40's, the characters actually having characters and whatnot. Hell, I know Yahtzee pointed out how similar Uncharted 3 was to The Last Crusade, but he didn't mention the half of it. I lost count of not only similar motifs, but whole scenes, characters, actions...Christ, why not simply have made a Last Crusade game and improve the whole thing? friggin waste of potential that was.
I kind of randomly came across this picture on a google image search, and while I'm not sure exactly what the deal is with it, I do know that it's a realistic drawing of a Zeon soldier from the original Mobile Suit Gundam. The art style reminded me of Star Wars: Battlefront 2, and it got me thinking: why is there no Battlefield clone with a Gundam theme? Think about it, infantry and mobile suits in the same game. The original series had all kinds of vehicles for delivering regular infantry, it had tanks, it had fighters, it had mobile suits, it's basically tailor made for a Battlefield clone. Imagine running toward a control point with 32 other players, some of which are backing you up in mobile suits, and the other side doing the same thing. Anti tank players launching rockets at mobile suits, anti-infantry units fighting other infantry units and taking control points, it would be awesome.
Unfortunately, nothing of the sort has ever been made. There was a mod being planned for Battlefield 1942, but it never even made it to the first public release. And I can't help but ask myself "why?" Because it would truly be awesome.
For discussion value, do you have any game ideas like this, ideas that should be obvious but for some reason aren't being made? Also, what do you think of mine?
Edit: Those of you unfamiliar with the series may notice it looks a lot like a Nazi uniform. That's because the series was based loosely on World War II, and the Zeons were the bad guys.
It just hasn't been released in the west because Gundam games never sell terribly well here and they'd like to turn a profit for the effort of localizing their games for us.
1. If you have Medieval 2 Total War Kingdoms, there's The Third Age (http://www.moddb.com/mods/third-age-total-war). As one who hasn't played it, I cannot assure it of being all that you ask for.
2. Republic Commando 2 would have to be Imperial Commandos, unless they don't want to use the remainder of Delta Squad or the given information of Karen Traviss', as the Mando/Commando culture was retconned for The Clone Wars.
Nonetheless, I would like to see another as well--it gave such an interesting output on the Star Wars universe.
Nonetheless, I would like kickass Battle-front style tps with a multitude of different races with different play styles, say... combine Starcraft tech trees with battlefront action, kinda like what Blizzard was going to do with Ghost's multiplayer of ZvT.
I think a really foul, terrifying, dark, horror (and I mean true horror not Resi horror or one that qualifies as a fifteen, I want to really shit myself) FANTASY GAME.
Basically Horror/Fantasy. (the Witcher does not count) Also if it could be a current gen title, not a 90's game.
Amnesia the dark descent is a fantastic example of this I know but, it has no combat I want to be able to defend myself, not piss myself underneath a desk.
No Dark souls/ Demon souls or whatever it is (the really hard game) does not qualify, as it is apparently to hard to be called a game, and I don't want to play it. Oh yeah and it's not an 18 so yeah doesn't qualify.
Yes I am so immature that I pass off something that's not certified 18 as not scary, yet I still pissed myself when I watched the grudge, whith my mum who watched it with me....... and had to buy it for me..... shut up.
A fantasy game set in victorian london, where you play as a fledgling mage who must seek balance between the Mortal world and Faerie, while the world enters a new age of technology that threatens to disrupt that balance. Basically a hybrid of 3rd person platforming, RPG combat and advancement systems, multiple factions, a variety of weapons and combat tactics, and multiple endings that focus on your character's personal beliefs and choices.
But that's the game I'm designing now, so hopefully it'll actually get made soon.
Technically not a new game but all of the original Mega Man games on one disc with a HD update, no need to change the sprites but just make everything cleaner and add 3d backgrounds etc, I know they did Mega Man Power Up but that only had the first one (I think) and I didnt like the art style.
Also a Pokemon game that contains all the current regions.
you can't have a thread like this and NOT have some mention of of a third system shock.
But in all actuality I'd rather like a pokemon game that doesn't insult my intelligence, by having an incredibly slow opening bit, thank you very much.
And speaking of nintendo, where in the HELL is my on rails Starfox game, Miyamoto. It's been a good console generation since we got one, and no, a remake of Starfox 64 doesn't count.
And another one: a mass-effect style zombie game, but that's not what I want most of all. A Daikatana sequel, that's what I'd want
A crappy MMO or a large Nintendo RPG. What I mean is: you make a custom character and run around the world doing quests for different Nintendo characters. Similar to the Cartoon Network MMO - Fusion Fall. I know that would be terrible, I'm just surprised it hasn't been made.
An actual game about survival where you need to hunt your own food, find clean water, find a secure and safe place to sleep at night etc.
Survival elements are also thrown in games as an after thought, but I have never seen a game implement them properly. I would love a game where survival is the focus.
A zombie survival strategy sim. Where you're not gunning them down but more of a focus on survival like scavenging supplies and choices like whether to hold up somewhere or be on the move and (and the traditional do you want to save somebody).

A crying shame. Although it looks like it's a bit more focused on MS combat than I was thinking. I was thinking the suits would spawn at certain control points, just like tanks in the battlefield games, with infantry action being really important.
