Impossible Creatures, because it basically received no press. And this is a game where you can make freaking tiger scorpions and your base was a flying train.

The creation chamber was cool but I had a few annoyances with actual rts gameplay

I really need to stop expecting that every other post WON'T be CoD or Halo bashing. Good god, people, what did those games do to you? Kill your father? Rape your mother? Steal you identity? Get over yourselves.

as a long time Relic fan, 110% this. Seriously, if I hadn't randomly been browsing amazon I never would've found this game, and I never would've heard of Relic, and I never would've played the Dawn of War or Company of Heroes games...you get the idea. This game was amazing.

Call of Duty and Halo come to mind as most overrated.

I think the AvP game from early last year was hated on a bit too much, I thought it was great fun.

Combat Mission Shock force is another one that I think was treated overly harshly by the gaming press, although when it was released it was buggy as hell. Now it is fully patched up and has some great expansions it is easily the best strategic war game out there.

I think I've got a list a mile long on this one but let's keep it short:

Dynasty Warriors and Friends - Agreed. There USED to be legitimate criticism but when you get to the point where professional reviewers don't even know Samurai Warriors takes place in Japan?! There's a fucking problem. These days the series gets low scores purely for being part of the series.

Sonic Riders (the original) - This was what I called a "mass failure of reviewing" as EVERY SINGLE REVIEWER IN THE INDUSTRY failed to comprehend the PRIMARY GAMEPLAY MECHANIC! That being "Do tricks to get more fuel". Practically every review called it "a combination of SSX and Mario Kart" then complained about how it was NOTHING LIKE SSX or Mario Kart and then whined about refueling but never acknowledging that DOING TRICKS GETS YOU FUEL.

The Fight: Lights Out - How is this game getting such abysmal reviews?! No it's not GREAT but 3 out of 10?! That's INSANE! ...and yet the best complaint I can get is "Too much work for too little pay off" because you ACTUALLY HAVE TO PUNCH IN ORDER TO PUNCH?! Way to miss THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE GAME!

We Cheer 2 - Best motion controlled dancing games hands down. But oh it has cheerleaders so let's not even give it the time of day! Heck, one reviewer actually complained about how "All you do is follow the on-screen instructions to preform the routine"...so...you're complaining because it works JUST LIKE ANY MUSIC GAME?! *facepalm*

Gotcha Force - "It's like a combination of Power Stone and Pokemon" uh...try "Virtual On Lite" dude. The game is now widely considered "The best Gamecube game no one played".

Bloody Roar Series - Poor Bloody Roar...by the time Extreme came out, we had reviewers complaining that it was exactly like Primal Fury. THAT'S BECAUSE IT'S A PORT YOU IDIOT!

On the OTHER end of the spectrum...

Mortal Kombat: Deception - The controls don't even WORK right! How the HECK is this considered "the best 3D Mortal Kombat"?! There's so much lag on the controls that it WILL make you think your controller is broken! GAH!

Dragon age: I cannot fathom why people love it so much.

Batman Arkham Asylum: It was okay I guess. But damn people LOVE it. At least my friends do.

Fable series: Love them. Everybody and there grandma picks on it mercilessly. Freaking fantastic games.

Kane and lynch: Not nearly as bad as people say. The fact that some people call it the worst game of the year makes me laugh.

Alpha Protocol. Was way better than the press made it out to be.
Only if you didn't try and power your way through everything.

Go stealth and you were raeped.

Yeah, you just made me not want to check out that game, ever. Fine, you don't like World of Warcraft, but that doesn't mean you can't be civil about it.

I'd say Mass Effect 2. I played and enjoyed it, though after all I've heard and read, I found it to be massively overhyped. Also, I liked Mass Effect 1 better.

Prepare for about a million "Call of Duty and Halo" responses.

OT: Dragon Age 2. Not saying it's a bad game by any means, but all the reviews it gets are just a little too excited about it.
Then I am guessing that this review makes you happy? [http://www.g4tv.com/games/xbox-360/64227/Dragon-Age-II/review/]

Dynasty Warriors, As long as it has edit mode :p
Assuming you're talking about the bad press it gets, that may be about to change...DW7 got a 36/40 when Famitsu reviewed it recently. I'm psyched for when it comes put at the end of the month!
