Anyone ever seen a good one to your memory?
I have recently seen one that reminds me of a couple of good ones.
My favorite movie adaptations of games are.

Resident Evil degeneration
Demolition Man
Doom

Yes I know doom is teh suck. but well dammit I'm such a doom fan and well the movie could have been MUCH worse. Yeah. I was starved for good movies and well it had the BFG and Imps so I was happy. Wish it would have been a portal to hell though and not a chromosome that decrees if a person is good or evil.

Soooo anycase. Fellow escapists let's hear your voice. Anyone got any movies that were made from games that were great? good? or at least watchable?

The only "good" one I've ever seen was Mortal Kombat.

It was a fun, campy, stupid kung-fu flick. It was also surprisingly true to the source material (unlike pretty much every other game-movie from its era).

It isn't really "good" in a general quality sense, but it's fun, and I think that matters more.

I am hesitant too say Prince of Persia since it wasn't bad or good but just there, being mediocre in every way.
I really have never seen a good video game movie... well the dead space anime was kinda cool.

Wait, Demolition Man was a game first???

I know they did a crappy port of the film somewhere, but I don't think that film was converted from a game...

Hmm game to film?

I'd have to say Lara Croft. They captured the essence of what Tomb Raider was initially about (raiding tombs, finding secret treasures) and it stayed true to the source material while providing a fresh look on it. I'm not saying they were good films by any means, but they're fun to watch every now and again (mainly for Angeline Jolie running a lot)

But Prince of Persia did it very well.

Prince of Persia was entertaining, if mindless and forgettable.

As far as game to movie adaptions go, it's the best I've seen, but that's really not saying much.

Personally, I'm hoping the Uncharted movie will be the first legit video game movie.

This thread again?

I still say Silent Hill was a damn good movie.
I've been trying to find a copy of that game everywhere since I missed out on it. Should I play the game first or watch the movie and then go play?

I've been trying to find a copy of that game since I missed out on it back in the day. Should I play the game first or watch the movie first? I'm assuming the game, but I'd like the opinion of someone who seems to have experienced both.

EDIT: sorry about the double post. My computer didn't post the first one until after I posted the 2nd one.

It won't ruin the game too much will it? I've heard so many good things about the game, which I hope don't just hype it up for me and set me up for a let down because it's not as AWESOME as everyone said; yet at the same time I wouldn't want to spoil the plot or something. I'm one of those people that prefers books over their movie adaptations and likes to read them before going to see them (even though I know I will just be angry at all of the stuff they left out).

The characters are different in game and movie, it's more about the city as being the real character tho.

I think you get the game on PSN. Try out the game first I guess, the controls and camera get real annoying, real quick. Most people enjoy the second game over the first.

If you get bored/lost for too long, just watch the movie to inspire yourself to see more in the games.

EDIT: The movie takes a few elements from the second third and fourth games. So you'll be safe watching the movie before playing the first.
For some reason I thought you were talking about the 2nd game. That's the one I keep hearing about. That's the one I definitely want to get. And I don't have a PS3, so no PSN. But I've seen some copies of it for PS2 floating around and my PS2 is still running just fine, so I might try to find it again.

But glad to know that it won't ruin the game experience for me! I wasn't sure how closely related they were.
