Just found this when looking at the news, can you really be that immersed in a game that you can ignore second or even third degree burns, anyway take a look and gives us some of your thoughts.

Im not suprised, when i bent my arm the wrong way (yeah it hurt, alot) i had to get it pretty much forced into position again and cast-locked so i couldnt move. Soon as i got on th 360 i totally forgot about my agony.

I know it helps me when I have a cold, but nothing more. I have fond memories of playing Starcraft at age 7ish and being so focused on the game that I would literally forget to cough.

These days, I'm less easily amused, so most games won't have this effect.

Sure, why not? Playing games (good ones, at least) raises your dopamine level, and dopamine does wonders for all kinds of pain.

Yes. I suffer chronic pain, both physical and emotional, both due to being bipolar and due to the permanent, crippling injuries I recieved as a soldier, and later in a massive car crash, and playing games, reading, listening to music all tend to make my conscious perception of pain melt away while I'm focused on the task at hand.
