So do you have a game that you played a lot, because you liked some aspect of the game so much even though the actuall game isn't really that fun? Or a game that is missing a certain feature you thought would make it so much better?
I've played warcraft a few years. Always in a pretty casual way. But regardless of how many times I start it up I always get rather disapointed and yet again realise that warcraft isn't really the game I imagen it to be.
Because I pretty much imagen warcraft to be a singelplayer game. Thats pretty much how I play it. Not that I'm not a social person in the game. But the stuff I enjoy doing the most, you can mostly do on your own. Like exploring the world, take part in world events, or playing through the larger more story filled questlines. And while wow sometimes shines on these parts it's very obvious it's not the main focus of the game.
And yet it's events like the Wrathgate that lead to the epic battle in Undercity that pretty much made me buy another expansion. Hoping it would have more of that. No, that it would contain a WHOLE game of just that. That I can play by myself.
I doubt I'm the only one who thought it would be awesome with a bioware-style game in warcrafts setting, and somehow when a new expansion lurks around I sort of falls into the trap that this expansion is a step closer to the game I REALLY want.
Two more obvious examples of this is Brutal Legend and Dead island. Brutal legend had a great setting and story, but then somehow it turned into an awkward RTS and you somehow keep playing it, hopeing for a level simialr to that awesome one right at the beginning.
And Dead Island, now a lot of people has said this. But I really wanted the game to be like the trailer. It's silly to believe an pre-renderd CGI trailer will be like the actuall game. But damnit, it did really make us want the game we saw in there.
Anyone got more examples of this or similar stuff?
