Tales of Symphonia, there you kill a person called Yggdrasil who, if I remember correctly, was a God.

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, final boss.
I'd say the Tales game that comes closest to having you kill God (out of the ones I've played) is Tales of Xillia...

and he isn't even the final boss

Now regardless of the fact that this plan has SO MANY PROBLEMS that not even Spoony noticed them all, the plan does work . . . kinda I think God appears once more in Final Fantasy XIII-3 but as I skipped that one I am unsure.
You are correct. From memory, the basic plotline of Lightning Returns:
The world is ending and Bhunivelze (aka the Creator) has created a new world and empowers Lightning to be his champion tasked with rescuing souls of the worthy in order to populate it. He says that she will be reunited with her sister in the new world if she succeeds. Over the course of the game she gradually discovers that Bhunivelze is not being entirely truthful and that he's a bit of a dick, and in the true ending she fights and kills him, and guides the souls of all humanity (including the "unworthy" that Bhunivelze was going to obliterate cause he's a dick) to the new world. Everyone lives happily ever after, except possibly Hope, because reasons. The end.
Dont forget
You also unintentionaly kill the goddess Etro by striking down Caius at the end of FF13-2
. . . Wait but wasn't Lightning the Champion of Etro? So how exactly does that work, I know that Sarah and. . . . Noel(?) I think end up killing Caius which somehow ends up perma-killing the Prophet girl right? Except Noel gains the heart of Chaos and becomes the new Caius? Its been years since I've played the games so please forgive my errors.

Let's see...

Breath of Fire, taken. Asura's Wrath, taken. Final Fantasy, lots of taken. Grandia, taken. Hmmm...

At this point, I'm going to have to mention Project X Zone and Project X Zone 2. In both, you come to battle a god with the ability to alter dimensions.

Wait, Kirby's faced beings like that before, right? Do they count as gods?
While the final bosses are gods, they're more like a super high level yokai than god gods, like Xiaomu will end uop in another 2000 years or something lol.

That bein said, I recently beat 2 myself and am thirsting for a 3. Also, why didn't they give me Tiki as an assist, gah, such cocktease lol (since she was my mc bride in Awakening lol)

Speaking of cocktease, dat hot spring level. XD I died laughing after Xiaomu mentioned its "health benefits". And then every other female character's reactions. Priceless. ^_^

Back to topic, do Kirby's final foes count as gods? I know Nightmare borders on that level, but what about Marx and Queen Sectonia? Do they count?

In Guild Wars: Nightfall, the player eventually has to battle the fallen God of Secrets, Abaddon. The player can also battle the former God of Death, Dhuum, and reseal him in slumber within the Underworld, though he is not actually killed.

I suppose the final boss in Okami can be considered a god or rather at least on the same power level. What about Smite isnt that what the game has basically built its premise even if some of their `gods` are sorta stretching the term.

Mortal Kombat has you fighting gods as well and man are they weak im surprised any one fears them or pays them any respect at all in that universe.

You kill the equivalent, or nearly-so, of a several gods in 'Ninja Gaiden II' (360) with the four Greater Fiends and the Arch-Fiend. And in 'Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem' you play a key part in killing three different gods/Ancient Ones/Great Ones over the course of three playthroughs.
Then there is the Devil May Cry series where most of the bosses are pretty close to being gods, if not outright gods.

Doesn't beat the dead silence as a responce to "I hope you didn't do anything to defile m dragonturtle, activity-wise", though it was one of many good ones.

And on topic, most have been mentioned and the ones I can think of are spoilers, so i have to refrain XD.

Let's see... what hasn't been listed yet?

Zophar in Lunar 2. He was the God of Destruction before Beerus was, and in the his final battle, he's also taken the power of the God of Creation for himself too. Unlike most JRPGs, the difficulty of the battle definitely reflects this.

World of Warcraft has C'thun, Yogg-Saron, Ragnaros, and Algalon the Raid Destroyer Observer. Probably others got added in too with Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor, but I stopped playing by then.

In The Final Fantasy Legend, a Gameboy game, you kill God. Not a god, or an ascended being. You climb a tower to what you think is Heaven/Paradise, find out the Creator of all worlds and all things is a douche bag, reject his offer to grant any wish, and kill the shit out of him.
With a chainsaw. That's important.

I want to preface all of this with a disclaimer that FF13's whole story is a mess, and trying to make sense of it is like trying to translate something from a language you barely understand. Also it's been a year or two since I played it, I may be hazy on some details.
Lightning was indeed the Champion of Etro, but as Vozati said, Etro is dead, which I guess releases her from that contract? Something I forgot to mention in my LR summary is that the game is set 100 years after the fight between Lightning and Caius, but ever since that moment nobody ages or dies anymore because Etro is gone.

As for the whole plot of 13-2 with Caius, Noel and Yeul, I'm still at a bit of a loss. My best guess is...Caius is linked to Etro via the Heart of Chaos. I assume that under the "usual" setup Yeul has a Guardian of some sort and this mantle is passed down to new people as the previous Guardian becomes unable to fulfill his duties for whatever reason. Caius decides that this system is bogus and tries to free Yeul from the cycle, and plans to...kill Etro? I forget the exact details of his plan, but it seems like his Etro-killing strategy was already guaranteed to succeed, and all of his actions in 13-2 were about trying to save his own life - he was prepared to die for Yeul but it wasn't strictly required if he achieved his goals.

That is basically what Lightning, Serah and Noel achieved...they forced Caius into plan B which was dying and taking Etro with him. I don't remember if Noel actually "became the new Caius" as you said, I assumed that with the death of Etro that the Heart of Chaos was no longer a thing, at least in the form it had been.

And I would like to refer readers once again to my disclaimer, there is a moderate to high chance some or all of this is completely wrong.
